@@leaflizard8485 Also, in the "Blood of a Daedra" quest to open a portal to Mankar's Paradise, there should be a patched option to just offer up some of your own blood if you've completed Shivering Isles and become the new Mad God. And, of course, have a line of shock and surprise from Martin. 😄 **Edit:** Oh, and it would be cool if all the other Princes in their own Daedric quests acknowledged you are Sheogorath and no longer just a mortal. They might express concern as to why Sheogorath would be wanting to do a quest for them, but then again he has done stranger things in the past, so it's not out of the ordinary for the Prince of Madness.

The whole concept of the Shivering Isles was nothing short of amazing. Both Mania and Dementia are breathtaking in terms of landscape and its inhabitants. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The lead designer, Mark Nelson, truly wanted to give us a new realm to explore and achieved it. Also, there’s so little known about Jyggalag so it was a real treat to play a dlc with the daedric prince as its antagonist. Not to mention the champion of Cyrodiil undergoes freaking apotheosis and becomes daddy Sheogorath. I’ll always rave about this dlc and go back to it from time to time. Great video!

Shivering Isles was amazing because it very ingeniously utilized the jankiness, weird animations, bad acting, bugs and unintentional Campiness of the game's dialogue to depict the realm of the mad god. All of a sudden the weird interactions NPCs have with each other aren't so out of place anymore and are just as funny. It also had good quest design and lore. My only wish is that you got some choice in the matter and could choose to help jyggalag instead.

Some of my favorite moments in gaming history bring me back to the Shivering Isles. The first time the room where you meet Haskill dissolves in to butterflies which open up in the incredible sky. The first time you walk between the borders of Dimentia and Mania, one side looking like a Tim Burton movie and the other side looking like...a different Time Burton movie. And of course the first time I punched Sheogorath in the nose. He dropped me from so high. So very high. Shivering Isles was meant to make gamers love it.

Shivering Isles also added to the TES lore and (arguably) made Sheogorath one of the more fleshed out characters in the series. It's also what made the character so popular. That said, I wouldn't give the Mournhold DLC too much criticism for it's story. It made sense to make it as it was, because it gave closure for the remaining Tribunal members, whom you don't see in the base game. My only criticism is that you couldn't leave the city. It would've been pretty cool to see a bit more of -Vvardenfell- Morrowind, if even just a few villages and scenery beyond the gates. But I (personally) give it a pass due to the limitations at the time. I liked the Dawnguard DLC but it was pretty basic. I really enjoyed the exploration of the Falmer and their ruins and felt like they should've made a seperate DLC for that and replaced The Vale with a more fleshed out Soul Cairn. So we'd get 3 large DLCs - Dragonborn, Dawnguard and (insert name) Falmer DLCs.

My friend actually got the game of the year edition and never knew about the shivering isles. On his first character he was like level 5 and ended up committing a lot of crimes in Brazil. Stole a horse, killed some people, that sort of thing. Eventually he got chased into the Niben Bay by guards and just HAPPENED to swim directly to the gate to the Shivering Ilses. He hadn't even gotten the auto quest marker yet; he had no idea it was an expansion. He went inside the gate and saw that the bounties were separate, so he decided to stay until he could pay off his bounty. His mind was fucking blown. He Eventually completed the expansion before he went back. He was like, "damn is there shit like this everywhere?"

I'd say that a contributing factor to the success of The Shivering Isles is how it takes full advantage of the at times bizarre behaviour of Oblivion NPCs. Their stiff walking, sudden turns and weird facial expressions that all too often don't match the situation. For instance, if you were to attack Uriel Septim at any point then he would scowl in between his friendly lines making him seem deranged. In The Shivering Isles this seems a natural extension of their madness.

I despised the Shivering Isles when I first played it way back in the day. But that was after a grueling slog through the base game and came a couple of weeks after I had beat the main quest. (think I still have the CD even) But now... Now I'm rushing through the main campaign after doing everything else just to get back to Mania. I'm really enjoying the thought of how people live in the realm of Sheogorath. People live mostly as they do on Nirn, but with more madness. And outsiders who have not received the 'Blessing' of Sheogorath can actually live many years there before succumbing to the madness. It has caught my interest much like Falkreath and the Rift have in Skyrim. Imagining the kind of life my character could lead in certain places. It's very fun.

Why not base ES6 off of this expansion? Since the player becomes Sheogorath, who has split from...I won't spell his name, there's now a power imbalance, and one would naturally want to reclaim their power.
