I was once debating a socialist who was utterly apalled at the concept of accepting a world where there is risk of personal failure and was self aware of the fact that what he wanted was effectively slavery including for himself. It confuses me to this day how someone can advocate for such an end.

Absolutely insane. “Give me liberty or give me death.” But that’s actually a big theme of Exodus. Antichrist does not actually mean a tyrant if you look at the original source text. Most antichrists were just pagans killed by Christians. Before the Soviets, the vast majority of Christian martyrs were killed by other Christians. The psychology of the religion is a tangled mess -- it's basically a personality cult for a dead guy who never wrote anything down, so the personality being worshipped is subject to the inventiveness and whim of faction leaders and imaginative authors.

once again Chris, this is a great video and with a good message, my only complaint why we love dictators according to pikmin is the portrayal of the pikmin as a people and who Olimar is as a person, while they willing choose to follow and obey Olimar its not due to blindly following him, but of a sense of love and friendship, seeing him as a hero, as far of the pikmin are concerned, Olimar was the best thing to ever happen to them. in Pikmin 1, the Pikmin are a barely surviving species, being small in size and numbers, leaving them unable to go out and harvest pellet posy's or hunt prey, unable to fight the much more powerful predators like Bulborbs or snagrets, but then Olimar arrives, crash landing in the impact sight, where he meets the very first Pikmin. and together they form a symbiotic relationship, they help Olimar restore his ship and saves his life, and in return, he saved their entire species. in the good ending of Pikmin 1, with Olimars ship repaired he prepares to leave, but not before looking back at the tiny creatures who helped him in his journey, tilting their heads as they watch, he gives a wave goodbye before sighing sadly, and entering his ship. watching him leave, they hold hands as they watch the ship carrying their savior fly away, but he didn't leave them without anything, using the skills Olimar taught them, without any need for prompt, they go and attack a bulborb all on their own, having learned to fend for themselves thanks to him. while in the bad ending, Olimar has failed to gather all the missing pieces of his ship and having lost all of his breathable air supply, but his death is not for long, the Pikmin bring him back to their onion and using it, they save Olimars life and cheer as his head pops out the ground. now we head forward into the story of the Pikmin species, Via pikmin 2, Olimar is forced to return to the Pikmin planet due the company he works for falling in debt and his own ship, the S.S dolphin, was sold without consent from Olimar in question, but a souvenir he brought back from the Pikmin planet for his son was worth a lot of money apparently, and thus, we get the plot of Pikmin 2, as Olimar is sent back. and when we arrive we witness something wonderful, a group of red Pikmin hunting a dwarf Bulborb, all on their own, and other colors are in similar states, Olimars efforts bore fruit as when we find the other colors (save for the 2 new colors, Purples and whites, whose Onions are only found come Pikmin 4) are on their own surviving, sure, they may not be as effective when Olimar is leading them but they can make and live their own lifes without needing a captain to tell them what to do. and the Pikmin in return love Olimar, if you gather 20 of each color, 20 reds, yellows, blue, purples, and whites, they will belt out a secret song called "ai no uta" a song of love, they will fight for Olimar, die and be eaten, yet they wont ask Olimar to love them back, but he does anyway. in Pikmin 1, should you suffer a Pikmin extinction, Olimar will expresses immense guilt and sorrow, quoting that he would be unable to sleep easy that night, sure, the onions still follow him and the next day they will sprout new Pikmin, but still, Olimar isn't the heartless monster you kinda made him out to be in the vid. and in the true ending of Pikmin 2, once you payback the debt, and later save Louie, as Olimar leaves the pikmin planet once more, he watch's in amazement, as tiny glowing lights begin to dot the planet, and slowly, he hears singing, the Pikmin all bidding Olimar goodbye, as they watch him leave, with the onions escorting him with golden sparkles flowing behind them, as he leaves the planet once more. and finally we reach pikmin3 (yes there is Pikmin 4, but it has been implied that it is an alternate story from the first 3 games, so it will be ignored for now, but will be covered in small parts at the end) in Pikmin 3, we follow 3, koppaite explorers, sent to the Pikmin planet, now named pnf-404, or as we know it as, earth, to collect edible fruits for their starving planet that can be cultivated, but like always, their journey starts with a crash landing, scattering the explorers. we first follow the perspective of captain Charlie, who wakes up in a snowy tundra, and he discovers yellow Pikmin, just, relaxing, not hunting or fighting to survive, just relaxing, and enjoying the day, but once they spot Charlie, they surround the captain, looking up to him and curious, the captain, having no knowledge of Pikmin, freaks out at first, but soon learns they mean no harm and in fact want to help him. as we progress through the story, we see more Pikmin activitys, as alph we found the red Pikmin trying to free their onion, and later, we encounter a new pikmin type, rock pikmin, at first captured by a medusul slurker, trying to free their onion which is trapped in crystal, things are quite as bright for the pikmin like in 2, winged Pikmin and blue Pikmin are practically extinct when we find them, with only the yellow pikmin doing well for themselves, at least till, their onion got trapped in a lightless cave. but still, there surviving and we can see bits and pieces of pikmin culture scattered through the areas we explore, beyond singing and playing, you can also find little pikmin cave paintings, so to speak, depicting themselves or the figure of a captain, the captain in question, looking quite similar to a certain hocotation. in the end, thanks to the help of the pikmin, they rescue captain Olimar, and the koppaites planet succeed in their mission to save their planet from starvation. and with their mission complete, they bid the pikmin goodbye and wish them luck as the pikmin cheer on the explorers. and before we finish, the pikmin aren't mindless sheep who need a captain to do everything for them, in the short you used throughout the video, in that short, the Pikmin are trying to get a marble inside a bottle for themselves and coming up with plans in an effort to get it, all without the help of a captain. and in regards to devastating the local wildlife once the captains leave them to their own devises, the wildlife, isn't really destroyed as you said, their are tones of creatures still, and its implied most of them are nocturnal, so don't even see a fraction of the population of creatures you fight and hunt in the games, its why all pikmin must be their at the onion or with your captain, its why you leave at sunset and not stick around. there is an exception to this rule for pikmin 4, in which you can do missions at night and it is much more dangerous at night and you see why you and the pikmin leave the planet, the areas once safe are crawling with dangerous foes, bulbears, wollywogs, Smokey proggs, emperor bulblaxs, the list goes on, so the environment and thus food supply, isn't as devastated as you made it out to be, its just a lot of creatures are nocturnal or live in caves. and with that, I am done, I'm sorry this is so long, its just I am quite passionate about Pikmin, and once again, the video was great and I'll have to check out that book you mentioned, just felt that nagging itch in my head to correct some things, once again, keep up the good work Chris, and I look forward to more of your awesome vids, as you expose the evils of china and the corruption of politions here in America, again, keep up the good work.

Few dictators have been lucky enough to have willing slaves. In most nations the leader rewards the enforcement class(military and police and courts) to take resources from the working class which the leadership in turn uses to pay the security forces. In short at the beginning people may willingly support and build the tools of their own captivity, but once it is built, their continued desire to support the dictator is not important because the security forces will enforce compliance. Almost every civilization has an enforcer class, and a working class. Capitalism and democracy has this dynamic as well, but it provides far more freedom and individual safety than any other competing system of government.

We do... love playing as dictators in almost every game. If it's a 4x Space game..which is always more fun? Playing pacifists and winning hearts of mind? Or pretending to be pacifist, and brainwashing the citizens in an tyrannical government. Without a single fleet/army. I think we "love" dictators, because they promise us things and come during times of strife. Cult of personality thing. They actually deliver the small promises, and then the poor/down trodden have entire support and will die for the cause. Really like this commentary channel on games Chris. I think that one of the problems with communism is the centralization of power over so many people making those people faceless while putting them so subservient to the "state".. the state being so few people.. those people are all too hard to keep up with and emotionally invested in each when there is so many so it ends up like when you get too many units to deal with to the fullest concern. If they split up that power over zones and things it might even work better WITH communism but i think we could do with that ourselves because the government evidently doesn't care enough about each and all of us. They might even be making decisions to actively get rid of people to manage.
