I think a lot of women have a rescue complex. They can’t get past a guys “potential “ so they hang in there so they can fix him and reap the fruits of their labor but it almost never ends well.

I have 100% been THAT woman more than once! Kinda currently in this situation 😔 I can say that I don't necessarily have low esteem that causes me to settle. I do know that I am valuable & deserve a great man. What idk is WHY I have or continue love & allow these men to stick around 🤔 yes, I admit part of it is potential i thought they had & then i become attached to them before i realize that they are not going to reach that potential for one reason or another. I will say that I do eventually throw in the towel but it seems to take much too long. One man I had in the background for nearly 10 on & off years waiting for a change. The current has been nearly 2 years on & off. I hate this about myself!

I find myself giving the benefit of the doubt knowing people can change (ive personally heard the line "Ive changed" or "things are different now" or " that was the past") but the reality is... it never the case for me so I feel like such a sucker when I believe it. I guess I just really want to believe it. After investing time & energy into someone or something you hope it wasn't in vain. I am truly so busy with my own life between my family, 2 jobs, taking care of home & all that goes along with it that starting over or walking away from something you've invested so much of your precious energy & time on is disheartening 😔

Ladies, listen to Kevin. He is telling you the gospel truth. Most of us are chasing a man's VALIDATION. A lot of times, these men aren't worth anything ! It's the validation hook. We think something is wrong with OURSELVES if he can't see our value or if he doesn't treat us the way we deserve to be treated ! But that's not the case. We're trying to prove ourselves to him because of an unhealed wound or we're operating from a place of lack that we feel this way. Our self esteem needs to be intact in order to attract a man that is worthy of us. Or else ? All we are going to be getting is one dusty after another.

If they present disrespectful or anything of that nature of course us women wouldn’t give them the time of day. So sometimes when you discover who they are it’s too late. Dating is so draining. Guard my heart, guard my mind, guard my 🐱. Ugghh it’s frustrating. And unfortunately I’m at that point where I’m not open to anyone. Every man that I encounter gets shut down because it’s emotionally draining. Being alone unfortunately the only time I feel safe

They tend to be more charming and fun, but I don't fall for the BS. I'm not looking for immediate gratification with poor long term consequences. Part of this is also maturity and experience. One of the side effects of knowing your worth is a very small dating pool of men and being single. Enjoy life ladies and make yourself available to positive people and experiences. I promise the ultimate goal to happiness in life is not "finding a man". Good ones are out there just dont be afraid to receive it and recognize game.

Somehow there were girls who escaped this programming and got the decent guys as early as high school where they were plentiful and easier to find. As the rest of us Aged, the demographics changed---there were more losers around, the decent man was a needle in a haystack. It took more insight, know-how and ingenuity to parse out the men who were good for us and those who weren't. It took more resources than most women had as we found ourselves living alone with jobs that didn't pay us enough to pay All the bills and take proper care of ourselves at the same time. It was a demographic for disaster, a setup for mistakes, the guys understood our situation better than we did and took full advantage of the opportunity to unload their bad asses on us. Dating became a nightmare and I backed away for self preservation. I did NOT like the men I was attracting, but I had Aged out of the better pools. It got harder as I got older. I could settle or stay single. My Mom had settled in 1941 at age 24, deemed already old at that time period. I knew I couldn't repeat her pattern and so I didn't. I was missing too much to make anything work. As I Aged the programming Kev explains became clearer to me, but I didn't have what it took to turn things around for me in time.

Think many of us have fathers who aren’t great fathers and we see how much our mothers have tried to help him, we think that’s what we are supposed to do. We grow up thinking men struggle with managing life in a healthy way- career, kids, home, self... men can’t multi-task. So many women grow up watching their father see women as only maids & sexual targets. Few men value themselves. They follow IG & FB women who are shaking it, quick to lay down with anyone & hand their body over to just anyone, don’t care about their body, mind, or soul. Men- respect your body and stop giving anyone access to it!

In addition, Jennifer Lopez ex was called Bennifer. So it not just gender indicators. But programming cuts across social status, gender, race, class, sex. It a broad topic with many moving parts. i feel like i am not into "jerks" but those guys who are smart, pretty open about their emotions and talk with you so openly, flatter you...they dont seem like the player, but rather the outsider. but have some emotional issues/low self esteem and once they somewhat know u like them, they start to ignore u or slow ghost or be unengaging ...idk why i like these guys

What you are is what you attract. Self love first, self esteem and respect. If he doesn't respect you, don't stand him.

Idk even Esther in the bible had to win over the King over all the other women. I feel women should try to win over the man of their dreams also. Don't just think because youre a woman and maybe pretty that u dont have to put in any work or show youre a quality woman

Once again you give us a fresh perspective on an age old question. I think I didn't like "nice guys" because they didn't play cat & mouse, they didn't seem to have street smarts, they didn't give me a thrill or rush feeling, and they weren't partying hard with club drugs and alcohol like I was at the time. I was really toxic back then and had no idea. I was essentially living up to the manic pixie dream girl porn star virgin standard and resenting TF out of guys that didn't live up to the stupid male Hollywood trope of average looking guy anti-hero who smokes pot and plays video games who learns to become a man through her love and almost losing her. VOMITTTTTT. Life is not a movie. I used to build tension just for those swoon moments you see in movies. I think it's because in lots of ways I had to raise myself and I learned how men and women are supposed to act from movies.

I was with my love for 2 years and worked hard on building him up and showing him how to dress more decent as a guy. He was out the military but it did not last and he still set in his own ways. I felt insecuries from him when we were together
