I wasn't a great dribbler but how I protect the ball from a defender that is either beat him by a stride, back him down, or have amazing footwork. It will work I use to score a lot just doing these simple things.

Talkative Monkey I started basketball last to last month and I train for 1.5-2 hours everyday. There were guys who have been playing for an year but then too I got selected for the team. I never learnt basketball from a coach or player but only from this channel. I didn't say I was a a starter....I don't know if playing for 2 months count as starter or not. All I'm saying is that this channel have helped me grow and become a good player.

does dropping your shoulders while doing moves count as another type of protection because the ball is at your hips and your shoulders are in the defenders face instead of the ideal position of the ball so the defender will have to reach a significantly greater distance to reach the ball

I was told that I could not use my arm to protect the ball from my opponent coming into my bubble (sometimes over my body) in order to steal the ball. They were saying I was not allowed to touch them and protecting the ball with my opposite arm was touching them. Is that true?

I did a change of direction spin move (starting right) a little early and got stuck with the defender overplaying into my left, so I immediately brought it around my back, left to right as I spin. Basically the dribble stayed as I spun, and now I do it too fast, it ends up being more of a Globetrotter move than a decoy.. it happened bc I needed an out, lol.

My personal experience with people who try to play tougher or pressure defense is they don't know what they are doing and more than not they commit fouls or block fouls. Some block you with there body some block you with there arms some block you with there feet. Ex. With the arms they try to attempt a steal when I'm about to drive to make it seem like they are just trying to steal when they don't realize attempting a steal could also mean a foul. Plus I can't literally call those fouls because it only pisses them off because they don't know what they are doing, it slows the game down, it contributes to arguments. Your only actually playing. Need to see actual playing not this.
