For me good airsoft player is one who play by rules. Rest is just bonus, personal preferences and so on.

I can confirm that keeping track of K/D is cringe, my first season I thought it was all gonna be run and gun, then I went 1 kill to 10 deaths across 2 games and realized I shouldn’t be keeping track of that, and instead keep track of how much fun I was having. Great video Phil, keep it up! Also, love the sweater my dude.

I dont care about kills. I care about helping my team reach objective. If I need to hold a flank for a whole game and die 10x and kill 2, I'm happy as my teammates pushed center and right flank without worrying about left flank.

End of the day, if you had fun you’re doing airsoft correctly. My 1st frustrating airsoft game, 7hrs, not a single confirm. 2nd game that was the only aim, one kill 🤣

Great food for thought! Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or seasoned player. Thought I’d give your questions a go. Just over a year into Airsoft now❤️ 1. How do you define being good at airsoft? Being good at ALL the fun things you get to do with airsoft. Good communication. Good movement. Efficient with your kit&gear. Competent shot. More kills than deaths. A decent streak. Filling the gaps (might not be action packed, but someone needs to pull rear security). Athletic. Fast when needed. Slow when needed. God situational awareness. Good sportsmanship! Kind friendly & helpful towards all players. 2. On what basis do you feel you should be better at airsoft than you are? Nothing (Not that I’m amazing) I’m exactly as good as I practice. You get what you give. I want to be better peeks. I know I won’t be until I put in more time into that area. I Want faster reloads.. just gotta rep it more. Made a mental note that I push too often (but that’s the way I like to play - be at the front of the fight). Need to work on slowing it down sometimes and letting the enemy come to me. 3. What are you doing to try and improve? Working out for better fitness. Dry fire and drills with kit. Constantly clearing my house. Constantly researching and self educating on tactics, movements & drills. Rewatching footage to see what I could have done better. Playing as often as I can. Trying the same thing to improve certain aspects of my game. Trying different things to work problem solving and adaptability.

For me ( I don’t suck at airsoft, but I still always aim to improve) How do I define being better at it ? I am great at mil-sim and outdoor courses but indoor, I kinda get overwhelmed by the speed softers. To me, being better is being able to deal with them more consistently. Why do I feel I need to be better : Because I’m never satisfied and always want to be better. :) What am i doing to improve : I’m an army veteran, so a lot of my tactics come from my experience. I have to try to break my intuition a bit because it’s not the same thing and people dont play airsoft the same way you’d handle irl situations. So I am trying to be more open minded and talk to the speed softers about what they find difficult to deal with and focus on getting better in that aspect. I’m trying to focus more on communication and less on proper clearing techniques.

Making videos changed how I play the game. I figured out how to run gun and get kills. Etc… but that also isn’t always the best way to be effective, And isn’t super applicable all the time. Super aggression is great but in order to ambush… you got to wait. Sometimes taking the objective is waiting for an opportunity to do so. Sometimes retreating and repositioning is better AND WILL GET YOU MORE KILLS then rushing the same lane repeatedly. If you want to Be better always be asking yourself what options do I have available to me right now that will help me get an advantage over the enemy. And remember you can move in 360. Sometimes it’s suppressing for friendlies too.

Play the objective, not K/D. also, I'd rather have unlearned, but class players with beginner gear and integrity, than "top notch" players with top of the line gear who have no integrity or class.
