@@linksgarage1985 Your welcome. My first honest Race/Street Car was a 210 that had the 6cyl and 3 on the tree. I bought it from it's original owner in Albion Nebraska, who was a friend of my Grandfather. Grandpa helped me pull the original complete drive train out of it when I was a Freshman in High School. We hunted down a 12 bolt posi out of a wrecked "68" Chevelle SS and took it to a guy that did Machine Work in his shop at his House, had it narrowed to get wider slicks under the Fenders (I wasn't like most kids that jacked the ass end up to put bigger tires on it and followed what the Drag Race Guys in Popular Hot Roding and Hot Rod Magazine were doing instead) then we bought a M-22 Muncie that had face plated Gear Set from a guy who raced the Machine Shop Guy recommend to us and he helped us set up the blow proof can, clutch and pressure plate and linkage etc. We had always planned on going with a 375 horse 396 since you could find them out of wrecked cars Perdy easily then but when we went to pick up our Differential from our Machine Shop Guy my Grandfather and him got to talking about power plant and he took us into his back room where he had a complete 427 out of a SS Impala that he had traded work on a 350 for. So we bought it and had our Machine Shop Guy tear it down and go thru it. Turns out it looked brand new inside, virtually no wear anyplace so we swapped out some Valve Train Parts and he did a head job on it and all new gaskets and bearings and rings. When he fired it up on his home built run stand the very first time we were there and we stuck a Edelbrock Intake on it and a Big Holley Carb he had in his shop (it wasn't a Dominator is all I can remember now) and since we had swapped out Cam, lifters and Rocker Arms and push rods for new aftermarket ones .....all I can clearly remember is when he was done breaking it in and adjusting things (teaching me how to adjust valve lash hot) and so forth there wasn't a dog or farm animal within 2 miles of his house that wasn't scared to death.....we even had the county Sheriff Deputy show up and ask us to try and keep it down lol. Anyway that's the engine we put in the car and our Machine Shop Guy was nice enough to come to our little local Drag Strip 2 weeks later and helped us get it all dialed in and aside from busting the Cluster Gear and shucking the teeth off one of the Gears. (3rd gear I think it was) we made it through 4 rounds my very first time at a Drag Strip, had the Transmission not bit the dust who knows what might of happened. That was the very first "Real" Race Car I had owned we built and installed our own 6 point Roll Roll Bar to keep me safe, mounted a 15 gallon Aluminum Square Stock Car type Fuel Tank in the Trunk and even mounted the Battery in the trunk (something no one was doing to strip street cars back then)...We painted it Caddy Black and ran Cragar SS wheels in street trim. For racing we put on a new set of slicks mounted and screwed to plain steel rims. It was also the first car I drove that could actually yank the front wheels in 1st and 2nd gear at the race track. I drove it everyplace as long as there was no Snow, then I parked it and drove my old Chevy Pickup Sadly I got divorced and was forced to sell it. But I got lucky there too a friend of my brother who is a car dealer and muscle car collector bought it complete with it's original Drive Train and he sti has it and drives it to this day. I made him promise me if he was ever going to sell it I got first shot but who knows if that is still the deal. P.S. after typing this all out this morning I just got off the phone with the Car Dealer who bought it and he still has it in his collection just the way it was the day he came loaded it onto his trailer and picked it up, he's never had to open the Engine and aside from belts and hoses and normal maintenance items it's exactly like it was the day I handed him the keys. He puts on couple hundred miles per summer, has never raced it but one time (and he confided in me it scared the crap out of him) has taken it to many local cruise night deals and local Car Shows and has won several trophies with it to boot (alot of them Fan Favorite trophies) and he swears to me that if he ever decides to sell it or should pass on un expectedly it's in his will that I or my direct family must be contacted and given the first opportunity to buy it back for $1.00 that's right one dollar more than he paid me for it !......what a honest guy and a great friend.

Add regrets going with a BB in your ‘55? Is the engine compartment too cramped to work on the engine ? How streetable is the car?

I have a C20 with a 468. Much smaller cam (266 Energizer) and reasonably tall gearing. With a couple of burnt spark plug leads it'll still run harder then most cars on the road. Torque is King.. :-)
