I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t have Honeycrisp as their #1 apple. I am from Minnesota and that makes me very proud.

And you said bitter pit is caused by lack of calcium, so maybe mending around the tree w crushed egg shells worked into the top layer of soil? What causes the hard spots in pears?

Pear stony pit virus may be the cause, there is no cure just need to do your best to get disease free trees and wood. Some varieties effected more than others. If it’s not effecting most of the pears on the tree, just some, could be other reasons like boron deficiency or bug damage

Have you ever added chicken manure? It has a good bit of calcium.

Yes I did, it did nothing to combat bitter pit,

Thanks for the video. Have you had issues with Apple scab on your Spartan? I've read reviews stating everything from scab resistant to highly susceptible to scab. I'm guessing environment and rootstock used may contribute to this equation.

I have never seen scab on Spartan. Somebody may be confusing it with another variety
