Wild Mustard is an amazing wild edible plant and the ancestral genetic makeup of many of the modern veggies we call food, and even heirloom species. But what is heirloom and what does GMO really mean?
Broccoli, kale, cabbage, collard greens, kohlrabi, cauliflower, brussles sprout, for example, are all somewhat derived from wild mustard. They are all genetic variations of the wild mustard plant. Wild mustard requires no pampering (eg. fertilizer, insecticides, pesticides, extra watering, etc.) and is delicious, nutritious and healing. Why not learn how to grow it in your garden?
Do not listen to the so call experts who call it a 'noxious' or 'invasive weed'. These exerts ask that we spray toxic chemical all across the country to eradicate this nutritious plant. Wild mustard is a blessing not the enemy.
I still forage wild mustard because it grows everywhere where I live. I managed to grow two plants in my garden, but this year I will try to spread it. I collected seeds and will try a few experiments.
Stay tuned...
