When I heard the announcement, along with Mojaxx & CT, I wondered what Keo's take and reaction would be. LOL! For me, it's bitter-sweet because I've been blending acapellas with beats since the 80's. You know some of our 12" singles had them. I've been collecting rare vocals and instrumentals for years to set myself apart from many DJs. Now many DJs will be able to "Ketchup" without putting in the work that I did! I ain't gonna hate, it's all good for the culture! As far as the processing & CPU issue, I find that many users are not thinking outside the box for a workaround. My way of thinking is to forget the "Stem folder" or playing stems on the fly. I load up a song and stem-out the parts I need (drum solo, drum & bass, or any combination that sounds good). I hit Serato Record and record each stem choice into 1 single song track. I only need to record each part long enough for a decent loop, (8, 16, 32 measures). Now, I can hot cue the different parts, set my loops, name the song file, and place it in my crates. I can mix/blend into this special stem edit track at any time without worrying about CPU issues. Of course, full acapellas may need to be recorded separately, but beats and melodies are repetitive. I may also load 2 decks with songs and blend certain song stems together, then record the new instrumental blend for future use. To be clear, nothing will stay in my "Stem folder." As always, thanks for your great video content and the time you spend making it! Rane better throw "balls to the wall" this time with their release.

Great to see you back on the Tubes Keo delivering more quality content. I've been playing around with 3.0 the last few days and LOVE it! It's another tool in the creative arsenal should any DJ chose to use it (I definitely will be) I have an S11 and 8000mk2s and have the stems mapped to the midi buttons on the turntables so I can still access hot cues, roll and samples as I use all of these.

@@renechang2406 thing is that they may not be able to have a mixer do this by itself becusse the processing power required will be too high for the embedded system but the solution will be to have it done on the laptop either live or prepared ahead of time and the mixer will trigger it.

If you use a controller you can take one of the banks (example: loop roll) and assign it to stems. Also, it's fully MIDI mappable. I tried it with a Akai MPK Mini (closest interface I had on hand) and it worked just fine. Definitely will do until dedicated hardware is developed.

Stems works great on my MSI laptop, no latency or dropouts! Its really a game changer adding a new way to mix songs I dont have acapellas for... but it maxes out the processor bar. Haven't tried with decks 3&4 but but I imagine it would start dropping out. But I mostly use just 2 decks anyway so its fine.

Djay Pro user here. I think they have the best software, without a period haha. I really don't like Djay Pro AI for a heap of reasons but I am so invested in their stems, streaming, Auto-mixing (for my bar when there is no DJ), and song recommendations implementation. Particularly with Stems I use it nearly every mix now. I feel like my technical skills have never been worse but my sets have never sounded more seamless and creative. Sure there are times when the algorithm is terrible but it's usually bang on and enough when combined with solid DJing foundations.

You made some great points about Serato stems
@charithasirimanna5033
Жыл бұрын
point to note bro, VDJ natively maps the stems to ur EQ knobs, so u can basically use it as full on or half on, or what ever u choose, it goes further if u have a 4 channel mixer and ur only using 2 channels to mix, it even lets u use the inner 3 EQ knobs as standard bass, mid, and trebble, and the outer 3 knobs as stems if you choose to do it. And i think serato will do something similar hopefully with the full release.

Intrested to know your CPU Specs. I agree a lot of space is used but I didn’t have those problems that you have with loading on the stems on the fly. Also you left out that Serato stems are built from the ground up. Where as Virtual DJ is based off of open sourced code. That’s a HUGE thing on Seratos part.
@djovercut
Жыл бұрын
Huge but actually surprising that Its more CPU intenstive, I would expect the proprietary ground-up version to be more performant. Btw, yeah forget seeing this live stems stuff in hardware any time soon - embedded chips aint gonna be able to handle it with the current software.

15:20 My DJ PC is a NUC i5 16GB ram mini PC and it handles VDJ real-time STEMS processing just fine. CPU spikes but I get no glitch as long as I don't play the qued track during stem processing. Serato is just a bloated and slow, and it only has four stems while VDJ has 5 stems.

I agree with you. After the hype, I wondered... how am I supposed to fit this into my world of separates? I have no intention of buying a controller. Do the mixers evolve? What manufacturer is going to change their product roadmap for this? When Traktor comes out with theirs, are they going to introduce an F1 Mk2? If I HAD Serato battle Mixer with pads, then all is good, but how many really do?

I am an active VDJ STEM user who compared Serato STEM. The clarity of sound from Serato STEM was unbelievably clearer than VDJ. That is where it stopped for me. In VDJ, I have a dedicated bank exclusively for STEM. I can use FX, bleed beats and melodies using my Eq on my controller and it is not resource heavy. IMHO, Serato never fixed the resource issues for Serato Video and it will not with Serato STEM. At the same time, I believe there will be massive adoption from DJs with live instant Mashup, etc., from Serato DJs.

After i wrote this comment, VDJ came out with STEM 2.0, which was greatly improved and topped Serato STEM. At the same time, it still did not use a lot of PC resources, unlike Serato STEM. As a result, it load faster, the sound is cleaner, I can mix on the fly and have fun.

I don't think Algoriddim Djay is anything beginner, taking into consideration what you say about most djs just blending 2 songs together, one thing algoriddim has over the others is its platform is available on phone ipad, dvs and yes they're more pioneering than any of the other software, I don't see it as beginner, serato is overrated and just about as buggy and as you said you need a M2 to run it, not everyone out there owns an M2 albeit most have a recent iPhone with DVDS implemented I rest my case for all the serato hype just to blend 2 songs together unless it's producing audiophile sound quality over the others
