This man, along with Ross, POPULARIZED an art form. Wet on wet was developed back in the 15th century when oil painting was developed. It is neither Alexander, nor Ross, who invented or developed this technique.

It's good that you taped these episodes because even the Alexander Art company doesn't have them. They did a Q&A livestream and I asked if all Bill Alexander episodes were accounted for. Unfortunately the Magic of Oil Painting is among the shows with large gaps in its library. In decades past it was common for networks would reuse tape and that entailed erasing whatever was on it. KOCE was no exception and apparently they owned those shows not the Alexander company. By the way they addressed the fact that fans are posting episodes and they're apparently fine with it. They appreciate that fans like you have helped preserve these lost episodes.

Many are commenting in other pictures how his simple strokes make a wonderful masterpiece...and I certainly agree. I took art classes in college and the teacher always taught us to keep the wrist relaxed and make sweeping strokes. It certainly seems to pay off.

Just wonderful! It is like I believe he said, some educated painters who do not like the wet-in-wet style like that of Alexander or Ross, but their principles still hold! The light-on-dark isn't new, and the brushstrokes are very similar to the formgiving technique used in reqular drawing. Alexander is like living energy, whilst Ross is pure calm. The music makes me giggle, too! Thanks for posting this Mr. Markel!
