I love these guys! Very underrated in my opinion. I not only worked as a pro musician in the 80'/90's, I also cut my teeth as a sound (Mains & monitors) engineer for some very big bands. @5:56 you see Kip point to stage left (our right) & do a drum imitation. He's asking the monitor engineer to give more kick & snare in his monitor speakers. He's the bass player: he needs to hear the drum pulse so he can lock into the groove. Oh how this brings back memories... Onstage & Off... Happy New Year Everybody! Peace. JR

Saw an interview w/Reb Beach , and somewhere in it he commented on the old backstage video documentary for Metallica , made many yrs ago ...during the Black album tour . There was scene where either Lars or Kirk or somebody were throwing darts at a Kip Winger poster, and laughing etc.. Reb Beach said "fuck those guys! And Kirk Hammett absolutely SUCKS on guitar- I would run circles around his ass!" (something to that effect) He mentioned he was pissed bc Kip was a dear friend of his and that was just uncalled for . I had a lot of respect for Reb Beach after that, and it made me proud to see someone who's not afraid of the backlash to speak their mind and speak out , esp. with the all holy grail of metal bands : Metallica (I'm being sarcastic - I like Megadeth more....haha)

Kristen Dokken I started out with Carmine Appice out of Brooklyn then to Staten Island as a drum tech when he was playing with Rod Stewart. Gave me a chance to meet a lot of great musicians. Talent without good connections is useless. Anyway, got to tour the globe with him then hooked up with Cities and we were Twisted Sister's opening band. Then the bottom fell out! I got into the progressive rock scene but not many gigs, no money and few fans. I invested in real estate and in the Haggar. SAMMY HAGGAR got hooked up with building sprinklers and now it's in every commercial building, apartment housing etc. His brother in law was a builder and some how Sammy took Haggar to a new level. It paid off pretty good. Again, it's who you know. Still play everyday in my studio. Going into drumming master studies but not sure which direction I wanna go. Just hit 49 ;(

After checking out Kip singing "How Far Will We Go" (vid dated 2009), the thought crossed my mind as to how hauntingly similar his, and Chris Cornell's, voices are. "RIP" Chris, of course (what a vocal range), but with that said, who knows? Maybe Kip and Soundgarden will opt to do a few tracks together someday, should either party be interested...Hey, just saying.
