No, she was still operating under the assumption that they couldn’t actually charge a shoplifting because she didn’t finish checking out and never left the store with any items. But having on camera and the loss prevention officer acknowledging that she would wrap items up in other items, and then scan the one item is enough to indicate she was going to steal, so they were still good in the shoplifting, despite what she thought. So at the time she was thinking, they’re gonna try to make the primary charge drugs and ignore the shoplifting but that’s not what they’re doing. It’s just a secondary charge added search incident to arrest at this point. So I mean, they were definitely in the right, but it would’ve been so much cleaner to just let her finish and walk out

As soon as she spots them coming she goes over to try and warn her friend, only she’s not quick enough. Got jumped by police outside my front door and led back to the shop (no cuffs though). Only one cashier, the shop was packed. Disrupted everyone. The look on the cops face when the cashier just looked at him and said "Yeah, the machines broken, has been for months". No apology of course. The customer would think the self check out froze, and they HAD to ask for our help. SO we (cashiers) would literally terminate the transaction and scan the items for the customer. 9 times out of 10, the customer would say they grabbed the wrong card (because they couldn't legit pay for ALL the scanned items) I'll be right back they would say and we would NEVER see them again. I do believe there is discrimination but it’s to the poverty’s stricken ppl bc if you can’t afford legal council Your screwed regardless of Your race. MONEY ALWAYS TALKS THERE LANGUAGE.

Yea this is actually common with methheads. They get high and then when the comedown hits they were in such a euphoric haze that they don't know where their personal items are so they'll start checking everywhere. This chick was nucking futs and from working with past addicts I can tell you she has little to no chance. Unless her supply is cutoff she'll use until she's in the ground.
