I worked at sh on a unit for signals maintenance, back in 1982. We put the heating system in. The unit comes into view at the end of the righthand platform by the crossing. Ironically as the jcb driver was digging the trench for the gas supply ripped up a load of comms cables, and it took 1 month to repair them.

Went right past my old house! Between Blackheath and Langley Green the railway crosses the Wolverhampton New Road in Oldbury. The house where I grew up in the 1950s and 60s is right next to the railway, but hasn't a lot of the surrounding area changed!!! Very nostalgic

Nice cab ride, the railway line looks quite rustic. (I had the same problems with the focus at my last video and even without wiper, but only a few minutes, I skipped the parts.)

They should pull up all those redundant tracks north of shrub hill and use then to redouble the line between Evesham and Worcester.

The camera appears to intermittently try to focus on the wiper arm and not the scenery. Probably because the arm is parked mid-screen.

The whole idea of this video is to give you an idea of what and how a driver sees the route. A driver doesnt get a pop up on the screen(Yet!) to advise them of where they are.

I agree that captions to give station names (and maybe significant features such as viaducts and tunnels) would be a good idea. It's a shame that your camera keeps intermittently focussing on the windscreen wiper and/or droplets of water, making the outside out-of-focus. At least *sometimes* the outside is in focus ;-) Not a lot you can do about the windscreen wiper in shot, if that's the only place you can put the camera, but it would be less intrusive if it didn't mess with the camera's autofocus. Maybe tilt the camera slightly downwards in future videos so as to see a bit more track and landscape and a bit less sky.

Interesting opening movement with two trains allowed to approach each other under main aspect signals and a limited clearance point/no flank protection. 'Back in the day!' Allowable only with Steady green flag from the Box (not possible at this location), clearing of a subsidiary warning arm or holding at the Main aspect, interlocked with the Crossover points until the route is available.

No. As far as im aware it's because of Restrictive clearances. Ive worked over other semaphore routes and never encountered so many wrong sided signals as Worcester. Very unique and a challenge for drivers who don't pass over this route daily

Hi Simon, great video and also a great video you have with the driver's eye view from Exeter to Plymouth. I make driver's eye view documentaries for my KZitem channel which includes narration talking about the history of the route and showing run by shots of the train passing certain locations. With your permission would you allow me to use your driver's eye view footage and make a documentary out of it? The documentary will include credits and you will be listed in them with a link to your channel and the original footage. This would be a great opportunity to make a driver's eye view documentary of this route if you allow me to use your footage. Hope to hear from you soon :) Train Paul
