I try my best not to complain about the rain, because it makes for the absolute most beautiful footage. That being said, it is beginning to make my job a little tough lately. I have been having to stop and wait a lot for winds and rain to die down, either to film, explore or even just drive safely. None of this is really a complaint though, I am enjoying my time down the coast tremendously. Wind and rain along the coast is one thing, but snow is another, and it sounds like sections of California are getting hammered with snow. I was hoping to head inland from Bandon Oregon, and then do some of the interior of California, but it's looking like that wont be an option so I am sticking to the coast. At first I was a little bummed out about this decision, but that disappointment quickly turned into joy when I got to see the unbelievable stone structures along the southern stretch of the Oregon coast. I think this was actually my favourite section, so I am very happy to have gotten the chance to see it.
All of the beautiful views aside, lets dive into the dune buggy adventure. Getting out and enjoying the dunes was really a necessity for me. I love any action sport, and any toy with a motor. I grew up spending my summers in Florence, and riding the dunes was always a highlight for me, so I really wanted to share that with you all. I have always been a huge fan of desert racing and rally, so I just couldn't help but push that buggy to the limit, and apparently a little past. The broken component ended up being the steering box, which stripped right out. Whoopsies. All in all, Florence was good to me. I had a couple of nice crab feasts, I was given permission to park at the Casino with power and I got to shred up the dunes. Florence also has a very nice beach, but its NOTHING compared to the unbelievable beach at Bandon. Wow that thing was amazing, and I wish I could have had one more day to enjoy it. Finally, I was so excited to see the wreckage of the Mary D Hume. I love history, I love ships, and I love shipwrecks, so its needless to say that this was a pleasure for me to see. This is one of my favourite episodes in a long time, so I hope that you all enjoy it as well.
