I think it'll still be several decades before we ever have these in the air. It's not just about making these, it's about people learning how to fly, governments coming up with an effective way of managing the traffic, safety, routes, crimes, and finally, making these things affordable enough for the general public. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like. Edit: There seems to be a general consensus that these must be automated, although it's most likely, I still believe the pilot(s) should be trained to operate the vehicle in case of e.g. system failures. Could this method of travel be used as a sort of taxi service in the early stages?
@jonanddy
Жыл бұрын
not really, "flying" it is not like a plane where you have to go through several hours of flight training. I'm sure it'll be like when cars became a thing, it'll be quick to learn. the only real issue would be air-traffic control, but I'm sure that won't take decades either.

@jonanddy with my very limited knowledge in aerodynamics, wouldn't it be difficult to make flying "cars" that are sufficient enough to run on fuel, let alone electricity, all the while allowing for easy maneuverability in air? Again, I'm not very knowledgeable in this, I'm just thinking out loud, but it just seems it's more complicated than most people think, and costly.

@@Nobody-Nowhere I see it as a possibility . Because over time things people said we're not possible have become common place . It is engineering that made things possible . Never thought watching the 1960s Star Trek tv show . That captain Kirk contacting his ship which many years later would be crested called a flip phone . Or asking a computer how far to get to a certain place would take . Would eventually be like features on a cellphone . Asking to see pictures of something and then the images of what was asked comes up . All eventual great engineering . And 3D imaging was great engineering that now is not just a drawing by a pencil . But I do get what you mean . Show me a actual product already made . Not just some 3 D image talking about something that is not even built yet . And some guy writing a comment is talking great engineering on a fantasy not even real .🤔

Planes require heavy regular maintenance to make sure everything works and still sometimes has problems mid flight. I honestly don't see this kind of thing being popular. People are going to be too scared once the few start hitting birds or engines crap out mid air as what happens with regular cars. Plus just THINK of the damage this can cause by a deranged ex boyfriend or psychopath. Even easier to kidnap kids. Life isn't a movie.

Obviously, this would have to be equipped with some kind of radar system, but you can drive a car, right now, at top speed, right into a government building or a bus full of people or whatever. What's the difference? It would also have to be equipped with some kind of built in safety override, that could be disabled but would have to be done every time, to avoid simple mistake accidents. This is all to start with, but it's REAL! It's a real flying car! I think it's exciting as hell.
