I had a math teacher who came in, and talked about what he paid for his new glasses, what he had for dinner, and various other completely pointless stories - hardly ever touched on the subject of math. As kids, we were naive enough to find it funny, and glad to get off without having to do any work. Took almost a year before the school caught on to what was happening. Had a hell of a time with math later, being effectively a year behind. Compared to that guy, this teacher is awesome.

One thing I hated about college was preparing for class by studying and being ready upon entering class to move on to the next part only to have my time (and the Prof’s) wasted by classmates like the guy who posted this video. When you pay for a class and you take time that could be used to work (or do anyting else for that matter) to be there, it is very irritating when others slow down the class by not doing their part.

I'm in Canada but can relate to this because I completely despise it when a teacher has a thick accent that makes it really difficult to understand their lessons. It often happens in math and sciences, yet the material is very technical and complicated requiring exceptional explanatory skills. You may make fun of Americans as unappreciative/spoiled and the fact that they don't learn multiple languages, but only when you get this kind of teacher, you'll understand.

Admittedly, it takes some work on the part of the learner to develop the ear to listen and understand. I work in a university where professors have all different types of international accents, and so do many of the students. With such globalized trends in education and so much study-abroad in and outside of the US, it would seem impossible to avoid having to listen to an accent that sounds foreign. We've learned when one hears an accent enough, and concentrates, one can grow accustomed to it.
