Would you ever mix up your stroke during a race? 🧐
George Quigley, age 83, did this during his 1000 freestyle swim this morning. On deck, it was a question of “what stroke will he switch into next on the length?” A backstroke swimmer, he entered the 1000 freestyle to collect team points, but he wanted to add more interest. Not only did he swim the event in style, he’s the National Champion for the event. 👏
Did you know? Freestyle really is free! By definition, freestyle events permit athletes to use any swimming style they choose. However, one technique, the front crawl, is so widely used during freestyle competitions that it is practically synonymous with the term “freestyle.”
Way to go, George! 🎉
