Okay, that has to be one of the best tips I've seen anywhere to do with Blendif. AIso shows how careful you have to be not to be lured into believing that AI is always best just because it feels like a one click option. I'II nominate it for "Blendif Tip of the Year".

Thanks for sharing this awsome technique with us buddy! Proud to be a f64elite member. Will always be one. I often edit the mask after using the skyreplacement tool in Photoshop to improve the quality of the sky replacement. I put the blend mode of the brush tool in overlay mode and brush with white or black paint in the areas that need to be added or removed. Great for areas arround trees. Also works great is using the edit mask feature in the TK8 panel from Tony Kuyper. The dodge and burn option under the edit mask feature fixes the mask. The technique you show here saves a lot of time 👌

Hello Blake. Great tutorial. Good you use the Green Channel slider to adjust the sky integration with the trees? Many thanks.
@f64Academy

Actually, most of the trees would be in the blue channel of all things since they are yellow. But you could definitely experiment with the green slider to see if it would help. That's where the mask is helpful.

Thanks, Blake. Great video. Will this technique also work on sunset and sunrise skies with a lot of red, orange, yellow, and magenta colors other than just blue? That is, if the colors in your sky replacement are also in the subject area of the photo, can this technique still work in some way? Thanks.
@f64Academy
2 жыл бұрын
You can surely experiment with the sliders to find out 😉 just move them around and see. It should as long as the sky is brighter than the foreground or an opposing color.
@marcelofarah8657
2 жыл бұрын
In your example the sky to be replaced was blue and obviously it was in the blue channel so In the case of an almost white sky, do we use the blue channel also or the gray channel instead? I've tried it with a garden photo and the blue channel worked but the adjustment didn't work on the red channel so I adjusted the green one because of the grass an leaves but I'm no so sure if it's the right way to do it. The final result was Ok but I have cover a lot of places with the layer mask.
@f64Academy

Gray, since that would be on the white slicer.

Nicely done Blake, but your missing the whole point of PS's sky replacement - number of key strokes used (doing less and accomplishing more) your putting way too much work into what PS has made as a no brainer. I for one, will be sticking with PS, even if your method is "slightly" better. You say tomato, I say tamoto.
