I knew 2 veterans, both were in Germany. I mowed for one of them. The other, i met at a 4th of July parade. The one I mowed for was in battle of the bulge. I could never fathom the hell he went through, in which I thank him for his service. He was a good man, even to age 101. The other, I wish I remembered his story. During the parade, he told me his story. 2 weeks later, he passed away. Come to find out, me and my grandmother were the only ones to hear his past. His family never bothered to ask him. I thank him for his service as well. Lastly, I witnessed one of the last few Tuskegee airman showed up at my church, and I just wish I could've heard his story. My thanks goes to him. I just wish people would learn this history because history does repeat itself, but only the knowledgeable stand a better chance. Learn while you can, it's a gift bestowed to us from the ones whom served us. I thank all of our veterans for your service and for making lessons through history, may God be with you all

Alejandro Becalli It is not true that “history remembers the winners only”. We are still aware of all the losing sides in history. Napoleon’s French, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, etc. We can actually see what historical information is available and we can verify it’s accuracy because of multiplicity of sources. As far as the Japanese, it is a certain and proven fact that their actions starting in 1938 are aggressive, evil, and immoral. There is plenty of proof of what they did to the Chinese, the Koreans, and other people in the pacific. We can also even today read about their cult like obedience and militarism. It is not something just made up by the victors.

Seeing this starts to put how serious WW2 was and that it really was the deadliest conflict in human history, lot of brave men never got to see the war end and it makes me kinda sad that people today don’t give a shit about this anymore and it is true, but we should remember, otherwise history will repeat itself.

My grandpa fought in world war ll he was rank 1st Sergeant in the war he always have ptsd for the rest of his life fighting in the war he told me it was hell battling on the battle has been shot multiple times in his shoulder. He told me the day that d day happen was the bloodiest battle he ever experienced in his whole life and since he got off the boat he saw all of his men dying and their Lims get blown off their body and started to cry he though he would not make it though the battle and Suffered behind a Hedgehog as he was running to the sea wall a bomb Explode on his right side and fell on his back his leg was broken and couldn’t get up by his own when he crawled to the sea wall he told his men to help him get out of here and take him to the hospital and I forgot his stomach was bleeding out really bad and when he got there he died from blood loss😢😢 His last words are we’re not dying in vain we are dying for them so they can live a good life without trouble RIP Sgt. Nicolas Willams😢 He died bravely in his life I’m really sad he’s gone and no longer with me:(

Today is December 11, 2020, i can’t believe it. 2 of my grande uncles served in WWII one in each theatre. One in the battle of the buldge and the other in Iwo Jima. Another grand uncle of mine served during the time of the korean war but was in the reserves and did not go over seas. My grandfather was about to serve in Korea and wanted to really bad but failed his physical. My dad served in the Gulf war, and there’s me. I am 14 years old and a proud American.

E.B. Sledge (a Marine who served on Peleliu and Okinawa) said in his memoir, "As I looked at the stains on the coral, I recalled some of the eloquent phrases of politicians and newsmen about how 'gallant' it is for a man to 'shed his blood for his country,' and ;to give his life's blood as a sacrifice,' and so on. The words seemed ridiculous. Only the flies benefited."

War is brutal. The term “fair” does not apply to war. War is insane. War is traumatizing. War is Depression. War is something you never joke about. War is unforgiving. War takes and takes. War can never be erased. War... Is a hell-hole and people push through. War is painful and people recover Look at your scars, then watch this video. That is nothing compared to what these soldiers, these strong, brave, persistent, humble, and legendary people went through. Respect them

@@flare439 the politics had already ended. Germany and Japan were carving up the world and everyone decided to fight back. War wasn't it "answer" it was the only response they would listen to. Sometimes you are forced to action.
