A very nice and authentic impression! Thank you. Actually, not all magazine pouches on the B.A.R. belt were filled with magazines. The most rearward pouch, (either side), contained the tool kit - a sturdy box of leather that was roughly the same thickness and width as the magazine (though not as tall). It contained spare parts, tools, cleaning patches, oiler, etc.

Thank you 😁 Yes you are quite right that they often had the little leather kit. But unfortunately I do not have one of them yet 😞

so for magazine storage in the pouch, modern day storage is "brass to grass", meaning the rounds face down to ground. in the pouch. atleast in amercan military or most units. did they not do that in ww2? or is it different in other countires?

I will do some research into this :) As I have had someone else mention putting the magazines in facing down. I will see what I can find out :)

The bar belt saw a good amount of use in Vietnam as well with macv sog and some other special units.

How about your BAR belt suspenders. Model 1941?

Morning, nicely done and well put together. With regards to the knife sheath dangling down and being a pain, I would keep it on the same side but for now I would pass the narrower adjustable section of the belt through the leather belt loop on the top of the sheath (if that makes sense?) and not use the hooks so that it is behind the last pouch.

I wanted to do that but I found that I just cannot get the belt through it. I did not what to force it through and risk breaking the scabbard. I assumed it was a quirk of it being a repro?

Very nice mate, now the challenge is to complete the leather spare parts case, im almost there with mine. I was lucky enough to find a WW2 correct gas regulator for my BAR, just miffed that I can't change the bipod head and bipod to correct spec due to the deac specs. Ah well, least I have an original 44 dated one. Keep the videos coming. M1910 belt hanger I've always known them as.

Belt hanger. Right I will remember that. I am lucky I can remove the bipod and stuff from my BAR but have not yet looked into the tiny details like the gas regulartor and stuff so have no idea what mine has. I have not got the spare parts kit or cleaning kit for it either. I keep my eyes open in the future :D

What's the bar need to be functional

It would be easier to make a brand new one than try and reactivate one of these if you have the sort of skills and tools you would need to do it. It is for all realistic purposes not possible. Never mind the amount of laws it would break if you reactivated a deac in the UK. Big no go.

Did BAR gunners alway wear suspenders?
@Truffle1947
3 ай бұрын
No. I have seen a fair few pictures of them with either just the belt holding itself or with the haversack fitted which acts as suspenders to. There is also a pretty famous picture of a bar gunner that has a set of custom made suspenders built from the straps of a different bit of gear but cant remember what it was

M1910 hooks or hangers… idk to be honest. I suppose a field manual from that time would give the correct description and name. It’s a great question. I always just said “the attachment system with the hooks that predates ALICE” 😂😂😂
