Denny Zager of the 1960s duo "Zager and Evens" was from Wymore. They are famous for the song "In the Year 2525", which stayed #1 on the rock charts for six weeks in 1969.

I remember seeing Denny zager the 3rd guitar studio in Lincoln Nebraska. They played motels in the Lincoln area. I alwaysxwondered what happened to Richard Evans. I heard they broke up and I don't think they'd seen each other for a long time. Sang it at karaoke 2 weeks ago. In the year 2525.

Thanks for posting this. When I was kid in the 70s my Grandma would take us to Wymore from near by Odell to go shopping. I also remember visiting relatives from the other side of my family. One of my cousins is currently the pastor at the Catholic Church. Haven't been then for many years so fun to see video and pics from there. Great part of the country.

How early in the morning were you there? There were only a couple of cars driving in the town and not a person to see. Does that kind of spook you out to drive around in a town of over 1,000 inhabitants and not seeing any life happening? Even early in the morning, you've got your early birds doing things.

I grew up in a Welsh community in southeast Iowa. The Welsh were around the Wyman area, and north up towards Cotter. We were one of the few non-welsh families at the time we. But our family fit right in, and it was a great neighborhood to grow up in. Some of the older Welsh couples were just additional grandparents for me. The folks either sent me over to help, or I would stop while bicycling past and dive into any projects they had going. The pay was fantastic! Fresh made cookies, brownies, or pie with freshly made lemonade. No better way to grow up!

The Target plaza in Puyallup plays oldies in their parking lot (bigger than that downtown area) to keep away the gangs that were starting to hang out there. Gangs are everywhere these days. And I hear that the Mexican Cartel has sent gangs up into remote areas in Nebraska, believe it or not, and among other remote regions in the USA....I am NOT saying that's why this small town is playing oldies on speakers. It could be to draw people downtown to buy things - but I didn't see anything really worthy of drawing a crowd, like a coffee house, boutique, antique shop, etc.

@@TravelwithaWiseguy Yes the cinema looks amazing. The popcorn machine is the only original from that era still in operation. The cinema itself is like going back in time to the mid 1950’s. The museum looks interesting. Up the road you have the Sugar Shack only open certain times of the year. Occasionally l like to write a short article about interesting places in a disability newsletter and did think about Rudyard. Very small town but looks very neat and very interesting. I think the cinema while still in operation is well worth a visit to meet the owners.
