Great video. Thanks! Just bought three V3s with Samsung Pro Endurance memory cards + the Wyze motion detection. Doing two window mounts and one outside mount. Plus an IR light on a Kasa Smart outdoor plug...seems likely that the IR light won't be needed.

Thank you for the compliment! I placed about ten V3's so far. I haven't been able to get an unambiguous determination, but I suspect they don't connect as well. Two in a rental property are temperamental and one has stopped connecting altogether. It takes a 24' ladder to access it so I'll switch it with one easier to access to diagnose. But at the moment it's been dead for a week. Still a good value at $30 though.

Your neighborhood and your home have some all night lighting. Star light sensor is worthless if there is no exterior lighting. Also, you will never get enough detail to Identify criminal with those cheap cameras. A 1000W infrared flood light would help for close distances, and a camera with superior lens and autozoom for long distance is the only way to nail those "cats".
@VincentSmith1776

Agreed Mike, the sensor relies on ambient lighting. But I'd suspect 99% of users/locations have adequate light to operate the sensor. BTW - I have a V3 Pro on the way for evaluation.

While you can screw the base of the V3 directly to the surface, the intent of the included screws is to attach the metal disk and then the magnetic base of the cam will stick to that.

Hey really great review, that was exactly what I needed to know that these were the right cameras from me. Just a side note, and not to be nosey, you said your incident at work was the cause of you not sleeping, and that these helped but didn't fix it. It's none of my business past that, but some friendly advice, if ya haven't yet, talk to a professional about that sh*t, I was firefighter for 27yrs, shoulda been about 4 more, but I I frazzled out near the end.. ptsd. Buried that stuff deep down, too long, and thought I could handle it, I was way wrong, trust me, eventually it'll want out, and it won't care what you got going on in your life. No shame in talking to someone, I was super nervous and embarrassed when I first went, now I look forward to it, and I honestly don't think I'd be writing this right now if I wouldn't have went. Sorry again for sticking my nose in, it's just the tone change in your voice for about 10sec when mentioning that, was all too familiar, and if wasn't for someone letting me know it was normal to talk to someone, I might not have gone. Take care!

I do agree. I often get a notification someone is on my porch after they've left. I would hope that will change with the release of their camera doorbell as timing is imperative in that product. I have one pre-ordered and will do a review as soon as it gets here.

@@VincentSmith1776 That's why I'm interested in the differences. I've got 4 indoors and 4 outdoors. I got the first ones back when they were called Dropcam before Nest bought them and then Google bought Nest. I hadn't even heard of Wyze until recently.

Hey Frank. I have some experience with consumer level Swann from about 6 years back. They were hard-wired but accessible thru the net. I went to Wyze based on their products and a friend's recommendation. I did review other manufacturers first though. Churches are much bigger buildings, make sure your WiFi signal is strong enough everywhere you'll be putting a camera. If you have one central router It's a safe assumption you may have connectivity issues unless it is a small church. Cost wasn't much of a factor, but it's hard to beat Wyze on that end.

V2’s I have outside have worked flawlessly for over year and a half. Few close to two years. I haven’t lost any v2 here in Phoenix and they have survived two summers. We will see how the V3 handle. I have lost two of the pan cams that I had outside. One still works but has a red hew on the lens. It was pointed in the sun in the mornings the other took a direct blast from a fire hose after palm tree was hit by lightning. It worked for two days and then died. I have 13 total cams outside. Very impressed with Wyze so far. The battery powered are ok but if you want continuous the they won’t do that.

Would you be willing to do an experiment with powering via battery pack? Like an Anker 13000mAh powerbank or comparable. I am curious how long a V3 will run in starlight mode, no illuminator. I might have an application for this using a small solar panel to charge the battery bank.

@Neal Smith...Just a side comment as I was looking into something like this last year. I was trying to overcome the limitation should power be lost at the camera location. What I learned is that there are no recommended solutions for this as the circuitry in powerbanks is NOT meant to be charged while simultaneously supplying power due to potential overheating. Having something like an Anker or other powerbank permanently connected to AC or solar panel was therefore not advised by the suppliers I contacted, nor from some of the general feedback I got during my research. I welcome any feedback anyone may have on what I found as I would love to have this option without having to switch out to the Wyze Outdoor Cams with built-in battery.
