Hi Ade My name is Jan, being retired I bought a g0619 Mill and G 0776 Lathe from Grizzly. With very little knowledge on machining I turned to u tube, among all the channels I have watched yours is the most easiest to understand and I have learned to alot from you to date, especially the upgrades you are doing. I too purchased a dro for my mill after watching you do yours it gave me the confidence to do my own please keep up the great work. Eager for more.

Hi Mart, I am the opposite, live very rurally and am surrounded by sheep mainly, you wouldn't believe how vocal they get at completely the wrong moments when I am filming. I usually just say, at least the neighbours are appreciating my efforts, or something similar. I think the background noises (4 legged sheep or 2 legged ones) add a level of authenticity to what we do, and remind the viewership that we are home machinist, and not operating in some sterile environment. Cheers, Jon

Yep I have to agree with you Ade. I also have been shielding and in Leicester they put us back into lock-down and my workshop activities have helped to keep me sane. Good job by the way. I now have 2 mills as my cr*p Chinese drilling press with the wolf name on it turned out to be a useless bag of bolts. Wolf always used to be good tools in my apprentice days, but I would not buy another tool with the wolf name on it now. bottom of the barrel cheap and shoddy. So I have replaced it with an Axminster sx2 mill. Though one had to go back as it was damaged and didn't work Axminster came through with a new replacement, which I think was on special order direct from the manufacturers (seig if the label is to be believed) as they were still supposedly out of stock when I got mine. So my SX2.7 is pretty much similar to your machine except it is an r8 tapper and has a tapping button on the end of each lever to reverse the direction for when tapping which works very well. The new machine is a MT3 though. I have some MT3 tooling, but Need new arbors for my Boring head and facing head. I have fitted the cheap dro's to this machine which are basic, but seem to work OK One useful addition to my mills was a halo light intended for cars around the spindle and a spring loaded spindle locking device for when tightening up and loosening the drawbar. Take care m8

Nice machining content Ade. Good idea with the pulley setup on your mill to verify the centres. Interesting to the know the DRO dual setup references, makes it an even more must have accessory to have in the future. Enjoy your off the cuff make as you go along try it and alter it if needed, its looking good so far. You could do with a bench top sized power hacksaw for your shop. A future project Ade lol. Tony

Hello Ade, you can just order some Noga replacement blades and they should fit that handle. I have several deburring tools from different companies and Noga blades fit nearly all of them. I do prefer Noga's handles, etc. I still use other handles just because I have them, but only Noga blade. Rich, Seattle,WA.

Frank James try playing with different spindle speeds depth of cut and feeds. Are you using carbide tooling? If so you are probably not running it fast enough. Give it a try and see what happens, but wear your safety glasses in case you get a tool break.

Nice job Ade, looking really good, when you have boxed the belt and pulleys in it will look like a factory solution. You seem to have an endless supply of the aluminium plate, where do you source it from please? I thought the way you used the mill DRO and the spot drill to calculate the pulley centres was very smart (the simple solutions are always the best)! Looking forward to seeing it completed, might shamelessly steal the design for my Cormak, whilst I enjoy winding handles, there are times a power feed would be nice. Cheers, Jon

No idea why you did not use the mounting plate as the bearing block instead of cutting a hole in it to fit over the block. You would not have had to drill extra holes in the table. ????????????? Makes no sence.
