If that’s the case, Jon, you really should grab the Flex Innovations Twin Otter, as that one seemed to be at the pinnacle of Twin Otters, at the moment. Not that you shouldn’t this one too. I like this one because it’s more affordable, and a more manageable size than the Flex option.

Cool vid, I fly the full size one on floats for living. You have "illegal" configuration right now with the sea fins installed on the horizontal stab, the airplane wants floats. I use to fly for TMA, currently they have 60 Twin Otters on floats in the Maldives, the largest fleet in the world. Thx for a fun vid.

Wow that is very cool! Interesting, now that I look at pics the ones with wheels don't have the fins. Every model has them, and they are not removable...well, not easily. Thanks so much for watching!

It's a beautiful plane, for sure. I appreciate the nose gear servo advice. I've only ever had tail draggers, mainly because of the rough areas I take off and land in. But, float flying that big bird would be a breeze with that color scheme and those huge beer coolers she floats on 😊 I'm not done torturing my FMS Supercub and Maule just yet. But, this girl is on my list, now. Thanks, guys! 👍

Ohhhhh Adam, my model did not arrive after 2+ months so I finally received a full refund from a Procupine supplier in Hong Kong. Looks a nice flyer indeed. Great build & flights mate that only you always get the best out of models. Well filmed Heidi.The aircraft is a bing'n & I was hoping our friends at Horizon Hobby would have released this bigger version of their Twin Otter. Ah well, I have now 'cooled off' & will stick to my XFly 1400 Twin Nova.rea

Hi Adam. I just ordered this plane. You mentioned in your review that the gyro works best if set up for this particular plane. Thanks for including your AS3X settings in your setup sheet but could you say more about what makes those settings ideal for this Twin Otter? Thanks. Steve
@ModelAV8RChannel
3 ай бұрын
When you set up a gyro, most people dial in one axis at a time. They will increase the gains on each axis until the plane oscillates at speed on that axis, then back it off slightly until it doesn't. Now that axis is set. There are more parameters to adjust, but for the sake of brevity, we'll just discuss gains. Each airplane and each pilots set up is different...different size control surfaces, different amounts of throw, different speed capabilities...those gain numbers will vary from plane to plane. For me, I don't like the maximum amount of gain possible all the time because I don't want the gyro making corrections the pilot should be making. I want to be challenged with flying the plane the same way a full scale pilot is. For instance - with the maximum amount of rudder gain possible the gyro will make the right rudder correction at the top of a big loop to keep you on line. I don't like that in a plane where the full scale pilot would need to do that himself...like with a Pitts, Corsair, or most propeller driven planes. Some folks want that correction made for them by the gyro. To each their own. Some folks just dial in set gain numbers for every plane. They don't know what they are doing honestly...just like the pilots that use the same amount of expo on every plane all the time. Every plane is different, and taking the time to set each one up perfectly for what you want is worth every minute spent doing that.
@BrotherAviator
3 ай бұрын
Ah…now I understand. I thought that there may have been something quirky about this plane that you might have had to compensate for with the gyro. I should have known it was just Adam doing this properly….as usual. Thank you.

Man you caught me again! That is the second time I forgot to include the flaps on the set up page. Thanks for letting me know! I pinned a comment at the top with the flap settings for everyone. The ailerons and flaps have quick connects you can get to through the side of the servo covers for adjustment.
