It brought back a lot of good memories. Life was simple. As a young teenager, I could go anywhere with my friends with only a soccer ball & a few yam (for food). We would stop by the streams nearby & tried to catch some baby fish. No cell phone, no car, no worry!

I was then only 17. How time does fly. I like "Old Hongkong" than "New Hongkong" . This "excerpt" has brought me back lot and lot of memories.

Thanks for the upload. Thats the true, beautiful & prosperous HK in our memory for which was running by the former HK British govt. Even everything wasn't all good back then but at least we can see the blue sky, the green mountain from not far away. Most precious was that we have a real harbour. Not a screen and a ditch built up by the corrupted property developers & the present govt along the harbour coast. I want my good old day & good old place back. Long live HK before 1997.

Very good video ! It let me remember my childhood in early 1960s' in Hong Kong. But I don't think the Pan American Airways Boeing 707 at the start of the film exists in 1961 !

Some buildings were recognisable. From 0:38 to 0:45 shows the Nathan Road in Jordan. The building on the right is the Lap Shun Building which is still there today. And the building under contruction is Wah Fung Building which is also still there.

This video is just great... I love seeing all the old British cars before the Japanese makers drove them out of business! The mandarin sound track is also GREAT! Who is singing it? Grace Chang? Got any more Mandarin pop songs like this? So much better than Cantopop?
What's the name of the song used in this video? The music is great! Excellent video.

I know the scenes used in this Video are all borrowed from Japanese movie titled "Three gentlemen from Tokyo", in which starring very famous Japanese movie star, late Hisaya Morishige with the other several stars released by Toho Film Co. Ltd in 1962. So you will easily understand the reason why every scene is still being kept so clear and beautiful in color and shooting angle. It’s simply because every scene had been shoted by the professional cameramen. It’s definitely not by an amateur.
That's part of the HK history. At least at that time, even life was poor & tough but most of the HK people had hope.

I was born in Hong Kong in 1936, and lived like those cage people before I came to NY in 1956.Then I worked as a waiter and went to college at the same time to finish my education. When I took my around-the-world honeymoon trip in 1963 to Hong Kong, I was in a TWA plane from Bangkok, not as the Pan Am one shown here in this video. Everything remained about the same as I remembered. Then on my vacation in 1989 to HK, most of everything had already changed drastically ! George Wu, AIA 2012-10-9
