Thank you! I found this video very helpful. Since the beginning of the pandemic many of us are having to purchase our yarn online, without having handled it before, so having someone compare various yarn brands, is very useful indeed. Cheers!

Hello How much yarn did you use to knit each sweater? I can't determine how many 25 grams balls should I buy?

Im perfectly happy with Drops, its not itchy for me ,and cant justify paying so much more for other brands. Lana grossa is better quality , it feels silkier so I might consider using that again for something very special like a wedding shawl. When used together with another yarn, I dont see the point spending so much more . Alize kid royal 50 is good value at €3.35 per.50 grammes but not soft on sensitive parts . I like using it with other wool to make garments or blankets lighter. I hate sweaters and cardigans to weigh over 600g , they take up so much storage space and are harder to handwash/dry. Its composition is brilliant for socks with 62% Kid Mohair, and 38% Polyamide. Ive also tried Gazzal Super Kid Mohair , l was glad I only bought one ball to test it. Its very coarse and scratchy and twice the price of alize .I nearly cried because the colour was so perfectly gorgeous but it was useless to me .

I’ve just got Silkhair from Alana Grossa. It’s like trying to knit with a cobweb. Super slippy stuff. It’s about 10 quid a ball 😳 Not progressed enough to say how it’ll look, but it’s rather unforgiving thus far. Trying to find a neater cast on for it. Btw the grey one was best. Even without me specs on, just from the fall and fold of the finished cloth I could see the superior quality.

Thanks for the review, this was very helpful. For both sweaters, did you hold the yarn with anything else or were they knitted held double? Have you tried Rowan Kidsilk haze?

No problem! I'm glad it was helpful :) I used the KFO held triple (3 strands tog) and the Drops held quadruple (4 strands tog). And yes, I have! It's lovely but I do think it's overpriced. There are just as nice mohairs on the market for less money. I'm hoping to make a much bigger comparison soon :)

@@the_knit_purl_girl Thanks for your response. I have just purchased Plotulopi and will need a mohair silk for it. Which mohair would you recommend? BTW, I just checked out your blog and it is beautiful.

@@Enig_Mata Oh lovely! I'm planning on trying Plotulopi soon too. Let me know what you think of it. So, as a rule, I tend to prefer the Drops mohair when I'm holding with another yarn because of the price. It is by far the cheapest mohair per 100m on the market. However, I also really like Filcolana Tilia. as it's also pretty affordable, comes in beautiful colours, and is nice and fluffy, and Hobbii Kidsilk (NOT their acrylic-mohair mixes - the real stuff) for similar reasons. I hope that helps!

@@the_knit_purl_girl Thanks for the recommendations! I purchased some Rowan but only because it was 50% off. Still it made no sense for me to use with my Plotulopi - I wanted to save that for nicer cashmere/merino yarn I got from ColourMart. OMG - Yarn in cones - what a blessing! Although I see comments that Drops is nice and a little itchy, I refuse to believe half of Europe is walking around with sweaters made out of spikes. I'll just use a bit of hair conditioner if taming is needed. :)

@@the_knit_purl_girl Hi again. I knitted a sweater using a single strand of plotuopi and I like how airy and lightweight it is. I held the yarn double with casting on and off and also around the underarm area. Also, I've knitted a sweater using 4-ply merino held with rowan kidsilk haze which has the same silk content at KFO. The garment is so beautiful and soft - in the future, I am going to knit a scarf/pashmina with it. So now I'm on the hunt for more silk mohair at a good price. I have not tried Tilia, but it has the same fiber content as knitting for olive. How would you compare Tilia to KFO or even Drops? Thanks.
