Just so you know, I'm the person who gave you the thumb's down. I'm a 77 year old great grandma who grew up watching John Wayne; and the cheap distasteful ploy of showing two men in the beginning kissing one another with the words "John Wayne's wife finally confirms the rumors", is disgusting and goes beyond cheap. While John Wayne was no saint he was a kind man who loved his family and was a faithful and loyal friend. And his work ethics are unquestionable. You should have thought this one over better, your confirms the rumors ploy is a disgrace.

There is a big difference in playing tough guys in a movie and actually doing it in real life. Audi Murphy was a real life tough guy who fought in WWII and earned every medal there was including the congressional medal of honor. While I agree his personal life is his, I truly feel if he forced his wife to get an abortion because they were divorcing (or any other reason) that he was a vile human being. To stand strong with an anti-abortion political party while being responsible for an abortion is the absolute deception and gross mis-use of the public trust. There can be valid reasons (health-related) for an abortion, keeping the reputation of a star (or any public figure) "clean" is certainly NOT!!!

Wayne had no intention of fighting in WWII. He kept “losing” his papers, as his career was beginning to take off, and unlike his fellow actors, who risked their lives and joined the forces, he kept lying, and every time John Ford asked when he was coming to join him, he kept bullshitting Ford. After the war, John Ford would throw parties for his comrades in arms; Wayne was never invited. He had no qualms about making movies that encouraged other young kids to die in Korea and Vietnam.

My dad did many things while living, but i know he asked for God's forgiveness a few weeks before he died. He was a Christian when he died. That is all that matters. The hero-worship of this actor on here is hilarious to me. The All-American Good Guy image that some of you cling to is just that-an image perpetuated by Hollywood to sell tickets. The denial that that image also came with more than it’s share of racism, sexism, homophobia and hypocrisy is puzzling and a bit disturbing. Yes some of his roles were iconic and larger than life. Yes he belonged to a different time. So what? That doesn’t make him above reproach. John Wayne made himself a target by giving interviews where he said he believed in white supremacy…that was disturbing then and remains disturbing now. Unless you agree with that opinion? John Wayne held himself up as the ultimate “real man”. And he was a draft-dodger. John Wayne made himself into the ultimate Conservative and now it has come out that he basically forced a woman to have an abortion. John Wayne was no hero.

John Wayne had two things that disqualified him from military service 1.) age 34 at time if Pearl Harbor 2.) only surviving son which meant he was the only one who could provide another generation to carry in his family name What does a 3A selective service classification mean? The Selective Service System in the United States is responsible for maintaining information on individuals potentially subject to military conscription. The 3A Selective Service classification was historically used to designate individuals who were deferred from military service due to being the sole surviving son of a family where the father had died in the line of duty or as a result of military service. This classification was part of the Selective Service System's deferment criteria during times when the military draft was in effect.

Why would anyone care about nonsense when he's not alive to defend himself. Some did 8n the industry and some didn't. It's none of my business.

All bunch of crap. I've noticed a lot of early actors and actresses. We're headlighted with strange captions after they died. So what they did is very wrong their families should sue. .I would. He's my hero ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

All people possess good and evil. All people will be a disappointment or a saint to someone else. It’s awesome to be able to know the truths of the artists we admire for their art. However we must remember they are just people. People have the right to their own lives, and their own beliefs. No matter if we like what they think or not. Byron wrote beautifully. I love his writings. But I would never socialize with the man if he were alive and available today, he was a cad. John Wayne was a great artist and I will always admire his work no matter any short comings he may have possessed.

I wish all of you ( whoever you are ???) who keeps putting photos of men such as John Wayne at the beginning of these videos , to make it seem that they are kissing another man ??? Those of us who have always admired and liked JW , have better sense than to think John would have EVER done something such as that ?? It’s disgusting at best !!!

Never ever believe something this outrageous on KZitem. Best guess is that someone needed money badly and boom a Duke big lie. Try finding out this subject somewhere else with real proof. My two cents.
