They actually do have a script that they have to learn. I'm sure each one puts his own spin on it, but the script is the same for all the yeoman warders. There's a video on youtube somewhere showing the process of how they choose and train the new warders.

I’ve just spent a wonderful couple of hours scrolling through your UK videos - very enjoyable Thank You. What’s good about these videos is : 1. Excellent cinematography ( a lot of patience to get some of those shots ! ) 2. You obviously researched each place beforehand and spent time editing after. 3. Informative and non-obtrusive commentary - with only a few funny pronunciations 🤣 4. You eat for fuel not to make points about the cuisine. 5. A great rapport with your husband 6. You are very beautiful. Keep up the great work - I hope you’ll be back in the UK to do more of our sites and history. Subscribed 😍

Oh my gosh Martyn! Thank you SO much! How very kind of you - you have absolutely made my day! I'm happy to inform you that there is definitely more of the UK to come, as we ended our adventure in Windsor and Bath, with stops in Stonehenge and the Cotswalds. I hope to put up a new video of Paris in a few days (which has footage of Notre Dame prior to the fire last year). I have charged myself with getting better about putting more videos on our trip. We love to travel, love the UK and plan to definitely come back again. Where are you in the UK?

Shelburn Adventures wow ! Now who’s day has absolutely been made ! I live not far from Northampton ( you passed through on your train journey to Birmingham) Very close to Althorp house which is the birth and resting place of Princess Diana. Beautiful rural English countryside with no crowds ( a must for any visitor - but don’t tell too many 🤫) My brother lives in Stratford upon Avon and his house was on your video there. I also enjoyed your Warwick Castle vid - I’m due to see Michael Buble there in concert once the pandemic is over. Your tour showed a lot of my favourite things about my country and as I said beautifully photographed.

I wonder if Europeans, or other folks that live with the relics of their vast past have a better sense of the vast scale of time, and how short human existence in the universe has been. These buildings are dozens of generations old, that must impart some sense of scale.

From what I’ve read in a book by American author Bill Bryson. American English is more accurate to that spoken 400 years ago in England. The English spoken in England took on many french words , such as pavement.

Yes it probably is. Apparently the words “fall”(autumn) and scallion (spring onions I think) were originally English. I also saw a fascinating documentary in the ‘80s where they visited an area in America (can’t remember where) and the people there spoke in 16/17th century English accents due to the first settlers.

Jambutty The English spoken in America has just as many French words as English spoken in Britain does, words like Jail, Detour, Navy, Allowance, Gallery, there are around 10,000 French words in the English language. Many of the spellings in America are however much the same as those used in England in the time of William Shakespeare.

@@shelburnadventures6684: There are in fact two chapels within the Tower of London: the Chapel Royal of Saint Peter-ad-Vincula and the Chapel Royal of Saint John-the-Evangelist. The present Chapel Royal of Saint Peter-ad-Vincula dates from the early 16th century, although there has been a chapel on the sight before even the White Tower was constructed. The Chapel Royal of Saint John-the-Evangelist is within the White Tower, dates from the late 11th Century and is considered one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in the British Isles.

Sorry your visit was not as fulfilling as ours. While the Tower is rich in history and events, much of the less savory aspects are not highlighted likely due to families (children) touring the grounds. Our tour had several mentions of horrific things; this was not included in this video due to graphic content. If torture and gore interest you, there is plenty to research on the Tower and other historic landmarks you can find on the web. Thank you for your comment!
