You are not depressed. You may have been dealing with your depression for a long time now, and it may have have robbed you from a lot of joy and happiness in your life.
You are not depressed, you may be struggling with depression, but it is not who you are. You are not the problem, depression is the problem; it is a mental health issue and it is the one that is telling you lies. Lies like you are no good, that you are not worthy of love, that you are broken. And that is just not true.
If you are dealing with clinical depression or are someone has some signs depression or some depression symptoms, here are things you can do to start recovering from depression:
1. Acknowledge that depression is not you. You are not the mental health disorder, the problem is the problem. Depression is the problem.
2. Change the language around it. Instead of saying “I am depressed” try, "I am struggling with depression” or “I have depression in my life right now.”
3. Look for and catch the lies depression is trying to get you to believe. The lies of hopelessness, worthlessness and discouragement.
