As an old Ranger we trained with iron sights and we learned that practice is how you honed your skills. Optics was just starting to be a thing and we picked up on it pretty quick. In SOT we trained with the crappiest old weapons the instructors could find. My biggest concern was my .45 going full auto because it was worn out. Practice, practice and practice some more. Know your weapons.
@williamcooke6056

Truth! The Navy always got Marine Corp hand-me-downs. Never saw a new weapon. We never got enough practice, but I always shot on my own. It didn't help as much as if it was with the same weapon, but I bought my own Colt Government, and later a Beretta 92F, very close to the M9. Still two of my favorite weapons to shoot.

That’s what I like about the Eotech. Instead of eyeballing where to put a tiny dot I can use the reticle side I know exactly where my hold needs to be. My main setup is setup for NV so I have mine on a riser and have found that I like it even during daytime cause I’m not bending and scrunching I can have my head up straight which just feels more natural. Then again these dudes have out so many rounds down range that they are good enough to eye a floating dot and doing holds. I’m not as good as these guys😂
