My tattoo artist is a male, being a fellow male i asked him this exact question during one of my session( he is a handsome man in his 30’s ) he replies” dude it’s so annoying girls will hit on me and I just wanna look at them and say” “You’re cool and all but I don’t sh!t where I eat” I also agree with the attractive personality part, I want someone who I can connect and have a conversation with for 6 hours or more and not have it be boring, finding an artist with common interest and views is always awesome

I didn't even really know how my artist looked until I had booked an appointment, all that mattered was their work and style to me lol. Also ngl, but booking an appointment at anyones workplace just to try to get some seems hella sad and desperate.

Haha that's what I was thinking! I've always looked at the portfolios and decided based on the style of tattoo I was looking for and who I saw had what I felt was the best fit in art style. I've never actually known what my artist was going to look like going in to an appointment 😂

Personality does help a ton. Would much rather be worked on by someone who is enthusiastic about the design than someone who acts like you are wasting their time.

I agree with when they mentioned having the right personality. I think it helps the client if the artist has a good personality, attractiveness aside, I'd rather a good personality to be honest. But I'd never go to an artist because of how they look but because of how their art looks, personality will keep me there and keep me returning though.

Started with nice innocent compliments like " your skin is perfect for this full color tattoo" to "omg you smell great " to "are you sure you don't want another tattoo? I can tattoo you all day" to I want to bite you so bad and squish my leg with her hand and giggle. Keep in mind her resting hand is on my thigh and her head leaning into me . So it's already little awkward , I just sat there like no no please don't bite haha.. it might not have been completely inappropriate but man it made its awkward when you're not interested or share that energy.

There's only one tattooist that I have had where I knew what she looked like before she tattooed me - because I'd also been tattooed by someone else in the shop while she was there. It just wouldn't occur to me to make the decision based on that. But then, I am a heterosexual woman and I choose to get tattooed by women so attraction isn't really a feature of the interaction.

They might have been waiting for a numbing cream to settle in, waiting for part of a stencil to dry, waiting for the blood to clot more so they can wipe and take a photo, etc. They could also just be taking a quick 10 minute food/water break. All kinds of reasons they'd have the time to take a quick call.

I tend to deter booking with attractive artists haha, which sucks because there's a lot of attractive artists out there who do great work. But I am not about to be sitting in a chair for 8 hours nervously giggling like a kid or attempting to not show any interest at all and have this bizarre awkward silence throughout.

About copying tattoos of popular people, one of my coworkers has the same wrist flame tattoo Chester Benington had. He got it after Chester killed himself in his memory, because to my coworker, LP was what kept him going when he was a teen in a bad family situation and he wanted to end it all. And then Chester did what he did (we fans will always miss him) and this guy just went fuck it, i'm not getting over this, i owe him my life, i'm getting a piece of him on my own skin to remember that

I go to whoever is the best artist for what im wanting to get done at the time. If your hot thats just a bonus but im not gonna hit on your or do any creepy shit. If we get to talking and hit it off and you reciprocate that then it may be different but i wouldnt go in there expecting anything but a bad ass tattoo. I do like women artists better as they do tend to be a bit more gentle which is always a bonus when being in pain for 6-8 hours straight.

People are weird. I don’t think myself as attractive, I look in the mirror and see that things aren’t all over the place so I’m happy with my self image, but I get unsolicited compliments on my appearance often, and I feel embarrassed. I can just imagine how it is for women to be given unwanted attention all the time.

Cis means cisgender. As in this person is not trans. A cis man is a man who was born a man and identifies as a man. If someone refers to "weird" cis men, they are typically referring to the misogynistic entitled jerks that make people feel uncomfortable. I never thought of getting a tattoo with an artist because they are attractive 🤷🏻♀️ I chose my artist because I liked his work . I had NO clue what he looked like . Just someone recommended him to me and on his page he only post his work . Didn’t know who he was other then his name till I walked in the shop and he introduced him self .

Yes, an attractive personality will get you far in life in general. Its very uncomfortable when someone is super negative and angry while tattooing you. I don't need a new best friend, but we're going to be in close proximity for a while so be nice to each other. I bring my tattooer homemade jam:)

Imo, a sexy tattoo artist just makes me more nervous lol. When I was 18, I got a tattoo on my hip bone area, & the tattoo artist who did it was very attractive, which intimidated the hell out of me. He was very nice & professional, but I mean, come on, you're 18 & you're laying with your pants somewhat down with a hot heavily tattooed guy down in that general area-for a shy person like me, it was kind of a lot for my young 18 year old brain to process. So needless to say, there was no attempt by me to flirt or anything, lol
