I managed to cut out sugar a few years ago and I remember having some crush craving phases while at it… But I just went with the flow and back to my goal. It eventually became so easy… Now I don’t have to force myself anymore, not wanting sugar comes naturally. We can do this!!💪🏻 Edit: I never cut out fruit! It has never been a problem to my body. Some people seem to compare it to simple sugars, absolutely not my case 😄

It took me about six months to kick my sugar cravings (I did some serious Keto and fasting during those six months). I lost 80 lbs and got to 17% body fat. I have had some sugar since then, birthday and treat on holiday enjoy it and I feel it. But I have found that the next day I am excited to get back to my regular healthy eating lifestyle. No more cravings or thinking about sweets, like the first six months. It can be done but you have to be committed to your healthy lifestyle.

I am proud to say I beat type ll diabetes. You have to view yourself as a Junkie. Sugar craves sugar. If I have sugar today, I absolutely know that I will crave sugar tomorrow. If you stop taking sugar, it’s like quitting anything else your addicted to. The longer you go without sugar, the easier it is to stay away from it. I have to look at sugar just like any other addictive drug.

Yess well done! It is such a terrible addiction but I felt so much better after. Like a patient in a psyche ward who had managed to come clean off of all the mind numbing medication. The muscle cramps made me go back to fruit and I had even forgotten how much more powerful my mind could be without the carbs. I studied up on hydration and managed to go carb free or Keto again. Damn my brain is on God mode. I'm finally listening to people properly and responding appropriately. Feels so good to form connections easily with people.

Yeah my brain was so foggy, slow and depressed when I was eating a ton of fruit along with meat. Now that I have cut the fructose, glucose and carbohydrates I have dramatically improved cognition. Increased clarity of thought, brain energy and improved mood. It took me a while to reach this point. Not because of addiction, I was getting debilitating muscle cramps. I just had to do a lot more research on hydration. I replaced himalayan salt with Sea Salt as it is much higher in sodium and I learnt about the high levels of Potassium in Cream Of Tartar Biltong seems to hydrate me very well too! It might have something to do with the fact that the meat is raw.

“high estrogen, low progesterone - estrogen increases the accumulation of fat, specifically in the areas that are typically affected by cellulite. The caramelization is also a source of tissue browning, aka spots. Dave Asprey mentioned that in a video I watched several years ago and I never forgot it as I was trying to figure out what causes them at the time. Ultimately the largest offender was alcohol which the liver produced aldehyde from, which had the same effect.
@TumbleSensei

Excessive water consumption which dilutes critical minerals that regulate water retention (magneisum, potassium and salt) causes stress hormones like aldosterone and estrogen to rise which causes water retention. Estrogen being a big one. Notice women hold onto water more than men especially in areas around/near the ovaries like butt and hamstrings in the form of cellulite but men can get a similar result for example men who consume a ton of beer. Not sugar consumption.
@Josh-Jones

Excessive water consumption may be a problem for a very few people, but the vast majority suffer far more from excessive sugar consumption. What some people think is "water retention" is actually just fat, pure and simple.

Thanks for making this one Thomas. This has been especially helpful for me. I have experimented over the last few months based on the things you are saying and I think you are absolutely right on the money. From my personal experience when I crave something, There are several things that can satisfy it, It could be alcohol, It could be sugar, It could be a my phone as you said, It could be a workout, I'm starting to learn something new. When I crave something that does not necessarily mean that is exactly what I need. I get in a workout and then see how I feel. 99% of the time my craving for bad food and alcohol is gone and i make it though the day When I do something healthy that raises dopamine levels. Not only does it kill the craving but it puts me on the right path. That has been my take away over the last few months and it has been life changing. I have been a lifelong weight trainer and a five k runner. You are helping me get out of my rut and I can't thank you enough.

My main question here what types of sugar are we demonizing here? I ask as High Fructose Corn Syrup vs an apple, both contain sugar in the form of Fructose. Both are converted to Glucose (A sugar) in the liver, directing to skeletal muscle and trigylcerides (a third of a fat molecule, also a long chain of sugars, that contain ketoses or ketone sugars). HFCS is regulated and restricted outside the States due to how dangerous it is. In short please define your terms if you are going to cite high level biochemistry. This is very hand wavy science.

Also, if you look at the most recent research, fasting has been shown to be no different in effect from equal calorie daily deficit. See Layne Norton videos for more info to what I am describing
