never got the recognition but he was a good performer there in the late 70's & early 80's. He had a tenor voice similar to Renfro Proffitt. Some of his best work was in the Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys in the 60's & 70's unless you like Neotraditional country.

Ricky is a tremendous talent. He is also a magnificent human being. He is so kind and caring to all. Despite his fame he has remained one of the most humble people that I know. A lot of people profess to being Christians, but Ricky walks and talks his faith.

This is how my son is on keys. He can listen to something and play it. God doesn't give everyone this talent, but when He does, it's a wonderment to watch. Ricky did amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

This is so heartwarming, and if you watch Ricky Skaggs all grown up, on the Opry stage - with that mane of white hair, hugging the wonderful young Carson Peters, you know that in "Bluegrass-speak", the circle is unbroken. Bill Monroe is smiling in Heaven, I have no doubt...How wonderful to watch this!!

I saw Ricky Skaggs live in the mid 2000s and was blown away by his performance. During his set he even told the story about how he came on told him he wanted to pick! So cool to actually see the footage he spoke about.

So glad he will be inducted into the Bluegrass Hall Of Fame, one of the few to be in both the Country and Bluegrass halls of fame. I first saw him when I was a kid at a festival in Hugo , Oklahoma and have followed his career ever since. He is an awesome live performer, and if you haven’t seen him live, you need to. Congratulations Ricky. I’m so proud of you!

In 1991 or '92 I met Ricky and installed his first mobile cell phone in his Tour Bus. He was such a genuine person and was my pleasure to have met him. I was paid, invited to the barbecue, and given tickets for the concert that night with Allison Krause and Union Station. Was an awesome day I will always remember. On the Bus Marquee I remember "Don't get above your Raisin"

I knew Ricky's Aunt , Milly Skaggs of Fall River Massachusetts back in the 80's. She would tell us of times when the Family would gather around and make Music.... Little Ricky would sit on her lap while She played the piano.. Wonderful Women that Milly was.. can't wait to see you again my friend. ✝️

Saw Ricky and Kentucky Thunder last night at Bloomin Bluegrass Festival in Farmer's Branch, Texas for free. Also got to shake his hand, get an autograph. What an amazing talent.
