I had the privilege of seeing Yuja play this great concerto in Madrid, Spain, last February. Absolutely fabulous! Eagerly waiting for the rest of this, Sal!

I love this performance more than any other I have ever heard. Yuja Wang has the FEEL of Rachmaninoff, the warm, heart-centred melodiousness together with rich and sumptuous tones and verve and excitement all combined. In my book, her version is the ultimate successor to Horowitz' 1951 version with Reiner.

No one has ever, and will never, see Yuja Wang depress a wrong note. As she has been practicing since age six (6). When you pay your dues in life, you will always reach perfection!

This is a wonderful interpretation of this concerto. Full of soul and imagination. And I am glad she takes the "shorter" cadanza for it suits far better the spirit of this concerto than the massive and longer one.

Yuja Wang is another Martha Argerich. Vivid imagination, countless expressive insights, fabulous octaves and superb technique which is always at the service of the composer. She is a true phenomenom, a female Horowitz to be more precise.Euro Arts is supposed to have this stunning performance on DVD pretty soon.

Good Lord! I hate to say it, but I think Val's got competition! This is amazing! I felt almost as if I were listening to Rachmaninoff himself play it but with modern sound quality!

Sure, she seems made for the Ossia version, can't understand why she didn't play it. Consolation: Valentina Lisitsa plays it, brilliantly of course, in her solo version of Rach 3 elsewhere on KZitem.

I think this one is a more feminine (which I love) and absolutely astonishing interpretation. But my favourite is Gavrilov's 1986 recording.

You are talking about a pianist who pushes the boundaries of piano technique and also praised for her interpretations. I think a cadenza wouldn't be risky for him. Also even Lugansky, one of the most famous Rachmaninoff interpreters, play the Toccata Cadenza.

if this was in video you can take a look how the maestro conduct the orchestra, I believe the orchestra should follow the maestro and the maestro should follow the pianist, technically they should all follow Yuja's Tempo Speed for the entire piece I mean its a piano concerto after all, and since she plays with such absolute precision so...

That IS a outstanding one among many we could enthuse over...and silly for us to look for absolutes...the music itself is great, even in 'average' performance. We all have our favorites...why trash accomplished talents like the poster below because you worship another artist? Silly elitism and prejudice...irrelevant to the performance at hand... I am glad Gavrilov is recording again...and look forward to more from him to add to his already rich record of marvelous and musical play.....

can you point out which part is out of sync? correct me if im wrong the flute and oboe solo part? well you suppose to keep strict tempo for pieces like this one, unless your playing Chopin Waltz or Nocturne

how come in every concerto it always seems like yuja and the orchestra are out of synch in a bunch of places? is it a problem with her? i feel like she always keeps such strict tempo.

Unlike you, I am interested in music and not in stalking KZitem users. My interest is not to harass users who do not share my opinion. Unlike you, I do respect other people and would never dare to post nasty comments on other user's channels. Unlike you, I do not "attack" anybody and needless to say, I am not a troll. Maybe you are too obsessed to understand this.

The most powerful hitter the loadest pianist ever should give a lecture to Yuja Wang how to get a big tone out of the piano.Mikhail Pletnev is too cool tone player for concertoslike Rachmaninov 3 Chopin concertos and Mendelsohn 1.Pletnev should play only composers like Prokofjev Haydyn Scarlatti C.P.Bach Liszt.Ther his the coolness playing is not a problem

Mrs Wang's version actually is awesomely cold and mechanical and there is never true musicianship and feeling. All those things who make music work are not present here. She clearly has no idea how to play Rachmaninoff. Listen to Richter or Pletnev and finally Rachmaninoff himself to understand what a true artist is. Those who think this performance is in the style of Rachmaninoff quite simply don't know enough about music and this concerto.

This is a nice story, but disingenuous to anyone who has followed your pattern of shallow trolling and musical dismissal of Ms Wang-often merely to showcase your Pletnev sycophancy and obsession. You deserve no respect for that. I do not 'harrass' you by defending Ms Wang from this obvious prejudice and musical lunacy over her; you simply cannot take being challenged over that. And, I am verifiability "nasty" only to those who are 'nasty' in fevered bias toward fine and dedicated pianists on YT.

You had a particularly bad time a few weeks ago and decided to take it out on Yuja.... The lack of true musicianship and feeling is yours. Your incredible over-valuation of Pletnev, and sickening slobbering hero worship of him, blinds you to the quality of so many other pianists. I admire a Yuja or a Pletnev or a Richter..not try to worship as you do. Those who think your critique here of Yuja's Rach is veracious musical acumen, quite simply don't know enough about music and this concerto.

You have been blocked by me for quite some time...since you went beyond intelligent debate to musically prejudiced, bigoted, and obsessional attack on Ms. Wang-along with uncritical worship of others to her detriment. And you once seemed like such an intelligent fella... You have right to opinion...as others have to post contrary ones. But outrageous attack and trolls on her should expect to receive the counters...which I am sure IS "annoying and tiresome" to your egocentric musical 'acumen'.
