@YodaOI I'm with you on this. I've only been aware of Yuja for the past several days. I was introduced to her via the prodigy Umi Garrett who was star struck because of an impending get together with Miss Wang. It takes a lot of work to keep up with all the new talent trying to make a name for themselves. Yuja will not lack work.

Pianists usually dont play a piece exactly the same way every time.Yuja Wang is walking in the footsteps of Martha Argerich; countlesds expressive insights, transcendental virtuosity that is always at the service of the composer, and a vivid imagination. She is quite simply the greatest living woman pianist next to Argerich.

There are, imho, only 3 pianists from the younger generation that can be legends when older masters pass out. Lugansky, Volodos and Wang.

Yuja is indisputably a genius, but I was still disappointed by Yuja's flashiness when I saw her do this live after being steeped in Argerich's more passionate, mature version of the concerto. Definitely, though, see Yuja play Prokofiev's sonata 6, she takes that piece by the horns and beats your brain to death with it. It's incredible.

Why does this video on one hand say Yuja Wang pianist with Bringuier conducting and under Artist say Jerzy Maksymiuk, Ireland National Sym. Orch. Bernd Glemser conducting. Am I missing something here? It certainly sounds like a Yuja Wang with the incredible velocity of her repeated notes.

Who cares if Vololdos wants to play Schubert and make few recordings. With Yuja Wang at last is a great virtuoso with superb musicianship that isnt afraid to make recordings of the music she was born for, This Rach 3 is right up there with Gilels, Lugansky, Argerich and Volodos. She may benefit however if she reads the many letters Rachmaninoff wrote to musicologist Joseph Yasser explaining how his works should be played.(Byron Janis and Stephen Hough have done this)
