The Zoom F8 Audio Recorder is a powerful but surprisingly affordable tool for multi-channel field recording. I explore different ways to power this device for maximum flexibility and run time. The audio you hear was recorded using the F8 and a matched pair of Rode NT5 microphones (so this is a demonstration of that set-up too).
For the record, I had an 80Hz high-pass filter and a limiter turned on in the F8 during recording. After that, the audio you hear has absolutely no processing after-the-fact. I didn't do any equalization, nor any other kind of filtering and I didn't even normalize nor adjust the levels at all. I simply dropped the F8 audio onto the video and made sure it was in sync. That's it! You're hearing exactly what the F8 recorded!

UPDATE 2: Zoom has announced a new audio recorder called the F4, which is sort of a stripped-down version of the F8 that still offers great audio quality. It comes with a HIROSE cable and it appears that all of my power ideas for the F8 will also apply to the F4.
