I was sitting on the stairs leading up to the second floor of our house listening to this song on my Walkman and singing along, out of the corner of my eye I see my dad at the bottom of the stairs so I stopped listening and he asks me do you know what that song is about I said no and he said if you don't know what it's about don't sing it and turned around and walked off! I of course knew what it meant even at 10 years old but I didn't want to get in trouble. My dad passed away in an accident five years later so this is a beautiful memory for me!

I'd rather watch you review just the audio, even if you have a video, because it's what I remember the first time I listened to ZZ Top songs, the audio, and what images the audio itself conjured up. A "video" review is cool too, but for most songs, it's all about the music alone. This is because in the 70's, there were no "videos", and as a long time Rock listener, that's what I remember most.... just, the music man. The "MTV" generation and those that follow, have been indoctrinated into the visual, but, if a song can stand without a video, then it's something to reckon with.

It's a old tradition to have a few dirty blues songs (Bo Carter in the 1930's has a bunch of them). The self-appointed moral authority used to shut blues clubs down in the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's because of suggestive lyrics. I'm certain ZZ Top knew about all that and made a few suggestive songs of their own with a very bluesy sound.

Their song Manic Mechanic from Dugello is probably their most experimental song the story goes Billy Gibbons was watching the Phil Donahue show and a guys voice and face were disguised and after pestering the shows producers they told him the device used to alter the voices and they used it in Manic Mechanic and IMHO is one of their most underrated and most bad ass ZZ Top songs please do a reaction to this one you WON'T be disappointed! Love the videos! Keep em coming! ☮️ from Nebraska!

I’m from the same part of south Texas as these guys--been listening to them since I was a teenager (in my 60s now). They’re even better when live. Would love to party with them to this day. 💜

I was at their first album release concert.. in Oklahoma.. they were so young and Billy was woof woof.. there was only about 50 ppl there and 30 were my ppl. the stage was about 5 inches off the floor. I was smoking a joint and Billy grabbed my wrist and pulled me up and we got loaded to Back Room Thang. Bill moved.. slithered like a snake across the small stage and i danced with him.. was one of the best concerts I ever..(ever) went to...

This “El Loco” album dropped in 1980 and was their last album before MTV hit. To my knowledge there are no videos from this album. Two other songs from this album, “Pearl Necklace” & “Party on the Patio” were popular. “Tube Snake boogie” is a great song that is held by bass and drums accented with some cool guitar work. As many commentators have said, you should really catch the Netflix ZZ Top documentary. Good review.
