OTR is a BAD IDEA! Unless it’s lucrative 💰 ice road, oil/gas trucking, or nuclear ☢️. YOU 🫵🏽 will be a single mother even if you’re married!!! 🤦🏻♀️ Better have a support system or you could get trapped in a cycle of poverty. Where will your own money to live come from. Trucking doesn’t pay well enough to have a whole family. Single man & no kids can truck off into the sunset. You’ll be a home doing it all alone. 🤦🏻♀️🤱🏻🤰🏽👶🏻👧🏻👦🏾

Hey I know you posted this a while ago but if you would reach out if you have a chance I would love to talk. I have 3 kids all 3 and under and a beautiful wife. I used to be a police officer but had an issue with alcohol. I wanted to see what your advice would be for me as someone looking to get into trucking and especially with a family.

Hi thank you for posting on this subject I just married a man who is beginning his career as a truck driver. He is leaving this Sunday and will be gone from 3-4 weeks. I never thought I’d be ok with the lifestyle that comes with it and I’m desperately seeking insight on what to expect and what’s to come I have so many thoughts and anxieties that pass my mind but I love my husband and want this experience with him to be as enjoyable and the best that it could be. Please keep posting and sharing. You know so much about trucking and it’s inspiring me to learn more to better help my husband and our future.

I completely understand the feelings of anxiety about this industry- the time away is definitely the most intimidating part! I highly recommend sitting down with your husband and talking about the long-term plans of your time in this industry. When done right, this turns into a HIGHLY profitable business that can be managed entirely from home. You can add drivers, get your own authority, your own contracts, etc. You can also own your own truck and just be your own boss. The freedoms that come with it is why we were so interested in the industry and stuck with it until we saw the results we were looking for. My faith in God and participation in my local church definitely sustained me when he was gone for so long. Praying you guys get the all the joys this industry has to offer! I have another channel www.youtube.com/@LionLambMinistries/featured that goes into how our faith in God can change our lives for the good!!

My husband has always been a local driver but will be doing heavy haul OTR soon and I'm a bit nervous! I am a SAH, homeschooling mom of four: 17mo to 7YO. We have a financial goal and bigger plans, so we'll make it work. I'm grateful for video chat! We have no family near-by but if there was an emergency, we have some really wonderful neighbors! Thank you for this video!

My husband is looking into becoming a trucker. We have 2 teenage boys and a 7 year old daughter. I'm nervous about the new responsibilities I will be taking on but I want my husband to follow his dreams since he is always sacrificing everything for us. Its our turn now. Thank you so much for your video. I'm hoping one day to be able to stay home and take care of everything instead of going to work and running the kids all over to their sports and games with little time to take care of the house and school work.

Mine started school almost 2 weeks ago. We don’t have a kid so I don’t have that struggle. But I am feeling like a crushing loneliness and I cry everyday so far…

My husband has been a trucker for about a decade, it’s hard but you adjust over time. Find things that you can focus on and make sure you take care of yourself. Hang in there ❤️

Definitely not easy saying bye to my girlfriend after our time off . Miss her so much every time , and she’s right next to me until tomorrow . You couldn’t be more accurate when you say it never gets easier . Thank you for having this available to watch. “Dealing with people who are not kind “ Just imagine all those people dealing with them 5800 miles a week left to right right to left repeat. Thank you thank you thank you

I respect your view so much on not wanting to be compared to a single mom! My mom was a single mom, and now that I'm a mom I realize how hard it must have been. They truly are heros and extremely empowering. And also, I'm not a truckers wife but I still find this so interesting and I now appreciate truckers more! Thanks for this video :)

My wife just showed me this, my name is also Derek and I have a daughter too lol, I'm a truck driver, a new one of 3 months going solo and I can honestly say I miss my wife and daughter ALOT, like alot, every time I leave it is always hard, I miss everything about being home, the hug and kisses, just seeing them and hearing them in person is so different than just talking on the phone. My wife does so much work while I'm away over the road, but she is my helper and an awesome mother and wife. Being a truck driver is difficult, scary and very dangerous, but I love meeting new people and I enjoy bringing smiles to people over the road. Some days I see nature in all it's glory, mountains, sunsets, lakes, rivers etc...... but other times I'm wondering if I'll ever make it home at all or alive. Much respect to your husband and to everyone in the trucking industries that includes truckers wife's too

Thanks for sharing your experience being a trucker’s wife. My husband is also a truck driver. When he leaves I feel very lonely. We have a four year old kid. I try to enjoy with my kid when husband is on the road. It gets really hard every time he leaves.
