I just saw this -- I swear I thought this was actual physical sets in a studio. The quality of the materials, lighting, and the tricks with the camera perspective were incredible. The switch of focus at 0:12 was especially effective, the lights passing overhead at 0:34 were believable, the simple pause in motion as the camera passes through the door at 0:43 was just attention to detail. The flaws in the film were like you would see in a classic cinema cut, little spots flickering here and there, only aided in the fantasy. I guess I'm too used to the CGI you get from Disney and I think I can confidently spot CGI coming a mile off -- and then you go and trick my eyes into believing what I'm seeing is real. Watching it back my eyes are still tricked by what they're seeing! Incredible work, well done :D

The most unnecessary hero starship ever. They could have just gone forward with the Galaxy-X variant of the "D" for the time of TNG movies. At least Terry Matalas fixed the biggest sin of Berman & Co. and resurrected the "D" for one more adventure and that role in that context could never be filled by the "E" no matter how much Worf grumbles about "D" having old shields and weak weaponry. We are already down to the "G" in the prime timeline, we'll run out of letters in 2 more series or movies if they keep this up.
@ianbrown4242

100%. It's grown on me, but this ship design isn't a patch on any of the ones preceding it. It was rushed - the team at ILM had to fix a bunch of things to get it all to work spatially, but it never really totally came together, and didn't have the elegance of the others.
@saucyduckglobalomnihyperme7510
4 ай бұрын
meh I disagree. The D was perfect for 4:3 but kind of looked awkward on the big screen, and the 6ft model was a nightmare to shoot (in addition to having been built for TV and thus needing extensive exterior cleanup for 35mm film). I think they decided that since they were basically going to be building a new model anyway, they might as well do one that was proportioned for widescreen. Now, putting the G on a ship that's a 25th Century "neo Constitution refit of a Luna" that's actually a 23rd century Shangri-La fan ship -- that was the most unnecessary hero starship ever!
@ianbrown4242
4 ай бұрын
@@saucyduckglobalomnihyperme7510 To he honest, I think the D is more cinematic. The E is neckless, hunched and strangely lacking in detail. It looks cheap and TV-esque. There's a good design in the E, somewhere, but it feels like it needs another couple of design iterations.
@TT09B5
4 ай бұрын
@@ianbrown4242 Yeah because the "neck" part became pointless. Its a major vulnerability to have so a flimsy part connecting to parts of a ship. It has plenty of details. "It looks cheap and TV-seque" the hell it doesn't. It looks better than any of the crap coming out of nutrek.
@TT09B5
4 ай бұрын
Yeah, no. None of the nutrek "fixed" anything about anything that came before nutrek. The way the D moved around in the Borg cube battle was silly. Star trek isn't star wars, ships aren't supposed to fly around like their airplanes. We have people whining about the E being "lazy and cheap" and yet the Titian/G is one of the actual laziest and cheap deigns ever to be created in star trek. It will never be an Enterprise in my book.

Just finished Voyager it was awesome.This new visual was epic. Mind you i watched the original copy but this remaster just feels right at home. Can't believe am this late to the party. For context if you watch star trek from jj abrams to discovery then snw then picard and lower decks first season, going back to tng and then voyager will make watching lower decks alot funnier cause you now get the context but damn i miss Voyager already. Thanks alot #Gene Roddenberry

I remember the first time I saw the opening credits of Voyager, I was struck by how they brought home the romance and imaginative wonder of what so many of us dream advanced space travel could be like. The wonder and glory of traveling through the vastness and beauty of space - it's part of the reason that Star Trek has lasted so many years.

It was a FANTASTIC theme tune... But... The ONLY thing tht ruined it, was the sound effects for the ship itself, as obviously, you wouldn't have heard any of that in space. Yeah yeah I know, it was for effect to show the power and the might of the beautifully designed ship itself, but hey, in that era of Star Trek, they were trying to be realistic about things and scenarios... 🤔😏 😎🇬🇧

Superbly magnificent. However one thing that always bugged me is the initial fly-through of Voyager is not smooth, almost like it's skipping frames. It happens in the original and in this version too, wonder why that is
