I've done countless of these. I usually like to pull the entire assembly out and rebuild it on the bench if I can. I find this way more cumbersome.

C80 was the first SCR system I worked on. Didn't even have PMT pretest. If the #1rec or 1A contactor was shorted, full speed as soon as you closed a directional contactor. The 185 panel had a separate card, but most ended up getting bypassed.

Thanks for the video, very well made. The nut on the back that you tightened with a 3/8" driver: how do you adjust it or do you just run it down until a small part of the threads are sticking out (so the nylock is grabbing?)

Great work. Fast and efficient. Dont see so many of these old EV100s around any more, but I like the fact that they are serviceable. Newer all-in-one systems have only solution for everything, that is-replace the hideously expensive black box. By the way, I am with chuck7497 on this, you DO sound a lot like Tom Hanks. Is your day job in Hollywood, by any chance?

You should measure voltage across the fuse, positive on one side, negitive on the other. A fuse with high resistance will give you a false positive when you test them the way you are doing it.

I have a 36 volt crown sit down lift. The contactors only work on one out of two drive motors. I have voltage but the contactors still do not close. Its not the coils they seem to be ok. Plus it would be strange for two coils {fwd/rev} two go bad at the same time on the the same drive motor.

Better and cheaper in the long run to replace entire contact assembly. Plastic gets old and brittle the plunger rod is usually the bigger problem along with that thin little shim.

You have the bottom black plastic guide on the wrong way, it has 2 tip guides on it. Anyone carrying out any work like this please disconnect the battery and remove Rings or watches as when they short out they turn into mini bar heaters on your fingers or wrist. Please if your not 100% sure what your doing don't touch. Call the service department.

Left out steps..If you're troubleshooting a contactor you do a drop test across the tips..then a resistance test on the coil to see if its shorted..
