It was nice seeing all your updates over the last 2 years, I commented on the first one when it came out. At the time I was a higher level than you, but now you're way ahead of me haha. Perhaps several years down the line you can drop another update when you're proper fluent. Anyways, good luck to you and your family, cheers.

Have you ever read about the pronunciation rules in Japanese? Like not about pitch accent, just the basic pronunciation rules, like how the vowels are pronounced? They don't have the 'a' sound like the one in the words 'apple' or 'Japanese'. The 'a' sound in Japanese is always like the 'a' in 'father'. It's like 'ah' . That might be something worth trying to pay attention to during your listening because it seems like you always use the 'a' in apple sound when you say Japanese words.

This is just my opinion and feel free to ignore it, but if you've been done with Rtk for 3 months now why would you spend your time on 6 more months? Maybe I misunderstood. I haven't done any reading yet but through a little searching I found a raw manga site called raw.senmanga . com. So if you're still hurting for reading material maybe that will help. all in all I hope your studies work great for you! I'm glad your video was recommended to me.

Should I do RTK ? I never did that, didn’t real appeal to me. Is it a good resource ?
@shacksonsolar
4 жыл бұрын
@@RayZin yes it's a godlike resource. Look through matts website the Mass immersion approach and get the recognition RTK Anki deck. With those ones you only have to remember one English word per kanji. It makes looking at sentences easier cause you can add words to familiar kanji. For example the word kimashita, 来ました since I did RTK I'm actually familiar with this kanji and know that the English key word is 'come' which happens in this case to be exactly what it means. Reading will be easy when I don't have to work so hard to remember which kanji is which

@joey yamaguchi What are you looking for? Maybe I'll be able to help
@shacksonsolar
3 жыл бұрын
@joey yamaguchi kana or kanji? Either way the answer is the same. You never stop doing immersion you just balance it with your studies. Study your hiragana katakana, after that either study basic grammar or basic vocab order depends on your gut instinct. Kanji is optional to study but if you choose to do an recognition RTK I would do it before vocab and grammar. All in all do what you can handle that way you don't burn out

I've had the book for 4 years now but I've been coming on and off of it, and have about 500 cards in anki. I've been doing the English meaning in front, and kanji in the back. I found M.I.A recently but I'm not exactly sure if I should time how much listening/reading I do. Good luck on your journey!

My biggest issue feels like I've been given a stick to float in a sea of Japanese. What is "active" listening? Do you just spend your time watching/listening to stuff you don't actually understand? Also, where are all these "basic vocab" and other resources you mention? The MIA site has mostly broken links...
@天国さん-e1h
4 жыл бұрын
for the first question, yes listen to things and watch things that are above your level, if you're a true beginner I'd highly suggest watching things with a visual element as that can make understanding a lot easier. By basic vocab I just mean the top 1000 words in the language which appear all the time, you shouldn't need to study them if you're spending a couple hours a day because they appear all the time
