Absolutely moved by that. I was born in 63 . But grandfather was Italian and father too. Brought up in Ancoats from 1900. My father often mentioned Jersey street I think he spent some time there. Hoping to see some ancestors here. Thanks for the upload

All my ancestors came from here, ancoats, most from Irish heritage as are most “true” Mancunians, and in part due to the industrial revolution and potato famine bringing people to Manchester but what’s interesting and unrelated to this videos origins but about the area, my gt grandmother was English, I’ve traced her heritage right back and she lived in this area with the Italians and Irish, she was very much in favour of the home rule in Ireland, she must have been influenced by the people she lived around and was a big supporter of the IRA, she used to store/hide ammunition and explosives and was involved in an underground cell. She had a big family and this was a vary dangerous risk that she was taking and she was never caught. I’ve looked into this kind of thing in Manchester during the early 1900’s and she lived in very close quarters to known IRA members, one on the same street! I wish I could have spoken to her, I’m named after her funnily enough, she died of pneumonia in 1942, she had a very hard life ❤️
