This explanation really stuck with me. When I really struggling with tenouchi, I ran into an older video where he broke it down so simply. Thank you for documenting this!

Thank you for posting! Please post anything else you have of Miyahara Sensei. I remember him, but unfortunately I did not get to spend nearly enough time learning from him.

Me aburrí...mas que el arte de la espada , parece el arte del suspenso...no debe haber mente, sin vacilar, sin miedo yo soy uno con la espada y ataco de forma " intuitiva" sin pensar. Es extraño este combate....

Fantastic. Thank you for posting this video. Sensei's description of the mechanics of tenouchi and kamae is simple and no-nonsense. As a beginner I have to remind myself of these things constantly. Body awareness in motion is a never-ending pursuit.

Does anyone have any idea what the name of the music is, or has it been composed specifically for this video?
Besides this awesome footage, i think that the music suits perfect for pre-war ambient. Can imagine those strange times. The turmoil under the carpet...

Yes ... but I feel like you may have been asking something different.
Ah yes, old people Kendo. It looks still and boring; then you fight someone who has been practicing for 35+ years, and they kick your butt. It never ceases to surprise me.

the most amazing fight I've ever seen, I love to see in any martial art when the fighters just look at each other and you can already tell who wins as if subconsciously they had already agreed who's the winner. one of them had imposed his will over the other and the other didn't even realize it.

3:02 As a Kendoka, I am entranced by this strike. I may not be a master (I'm still in my third month of training) but even I can tell, that was a beautifully executed Men!

Kendo should be: Win first then strike. This is exactly what we see here. Today’s Kendo is very different though...

For so many that are talking so negative about Kendo, in the day of the samurai so many of you ( if you lived back in that day) would rush to your deaths. You state it looks boring, when you have the sharpest weapon in the world that ever existed..Really?..Remember ..you don't have to "swing" it like a large English or Viking sword, the katana blade is razor sharp. One mistake and...that's your life. I am pretty good in the game of chess. ( Usually "blow" pass the average player.) But to counter an equal or superior opponent, the game speed slow down instantly and carefully. Kendo, like chess is mental first in priority. Note: I am a "older man" now, I was in the work force for a very long time. And trust me, the mental jobs were much more "taxing" than the physical ones. After completing your job that was more mentally challenged it takes your entire being to adjust (relax) and calm down.
