I had this same thing happen with multiple women as I’ve pursued photography. But I learned the hard way, I was too optimistic and got in multiple serious relationships only for them to fail due to me pursuing my passion. I’m actually pretty successful as a photographer as a result, women are attracted to me because of that. But I can’t give them what I want cause it eats up my all my time. Don’t let them convince you that they’ll be ok with it. Okay with you pursuing your passion. They aren't if it’s at their expense. And it’s ok that they aren’t, it just means they’re healthy individuals who know what they need. I don’t resent them. But I refuse to get into a relationship now as a result.

Pls stop promoting this as a motivational scene. Whiplash is a movie that tells you how far a devil can manipulate you and implant the devil traits inside you. Watch out for those monsters around you who can destroy your everything.

There are things out there worth dedicating your time and effort to. And there are things not worth such effort. Pursuing God is worth your greatest effort, things such as partners, parents, and more, are worth a lot of effort. And things such as a famous drummer is not worth it. And he turning away a girl, his family, getting injured, and more, is terrible and destructive.

Bro went about it the wrong way people don’t want to hear dreams of grandeur and won’t believe in it. Instead tell them what they want to hear & just practice hard & stud hard. Everyone wins. Even the GF she gotta understand you’re busy making moves in your own life and your time is valuable. Girls actually prefer that. Bro went wrong cause he has zero social awareness & self control. Doesn’t help that his coach was a prick & so we’re his family members lol

That's a weak conversation. It's a weak person saying "I need to let you go because I want to focus at my job". A job is just a job. What happens if you lose an arm and stop drumming? Your life is ruined? Family, love and religion are the utmost important things in someone's life and you want to know why? Because God will never leave your side, even at your deathbed and your family will love you no matter what happens. Your job is merely a job that can be taken from you in a second.

So with this video you are telling everyone that you didn't understand the movie at all, and how this scene represented a major step in the psychological downfall of the main character, ignoring the themes developed throughout the movie about, among others, how obsession can lead to self destruction, and to give everything away for something that you don't enjoy, or for the recognition of others. The final scene shows some degree of identification between the teacher and the student, as if embracing the very hated and abusive teacher desire was the final destiny of the character. In the movie they talk also a few times about this very talented musician that was a legend in the jazz world. The teacher wanted to be like his teacher and have a student as great as him, while the main character wanted to be as great as the musician. If I recall correctly, they function as a perfect mirror of the famous jazz musician story. However, this is not casual: the movie functions as an echo of the underlying abuses, sacrifices and psychological tolls underlying all those "golden legends" about geniuses and musicians, to shed a light that could demitify their aura. But nah, you just reduced the entire thing to a bland sigma male motivational stuff.

This is actually a good test for the girl. If she's the right girl she'll support him through thick and thin. If she starts to get needy then she's not the right one.

People said this isn't inspirational movie because he sacrifice everything for his ambition. Well, you'll realize this is inspirational if he is a woman. Because every female protagonist focused story nowadays use this plot and praise it for being empowering for girls, brave for leaving her relationship behind But since it's a boy, it's bad for him for being ambitious. Boy must choose settle and sit back in his safe space, right?

He left someone who he approached and wanted to be a part of his life and now wants to leave her because he thinks of her as a hindrance in his path and on top of that she was a good girl and someone to cherish but he left her, it was his loss not her. This is a pathetic message given by this particular video.

I loved this part of the movie, both views can be true. Success isn't guaranteed, sometimes clearing the plate of everything but your goal is the way to move forward. But you pay the price, you will potentially lose out on a lot of beauty in life. Grass is always greener, I suppose. Though I wonder, was he even enjoying the music? What a great performer but other than creating great renditions, was he really an artist? He chased validation, not beauty. What art can you really make if you live an empty life.
