A question for you, did the 4 speed pattern differ for manufacturers? I may be wrong but I seem to recall on an old Humber Super Snipe that first gear was away from the steering wheel & up, 2nd down, 3rd towards you & up, 4th down.

It's a very simple and easy video to learn even though you were used to the other normal gears besides column. I have clearly understood it. Thanks

Very nice, just got to love the simplicity, something very soothing about the engine sound I found, real characteristics something you don’t find with the modern robotic cars these days.

It's a beautiful car, my granddad owned one exactly same colour, split screen and front bench seat. It did not have a self start motor so had to be started with big key that went straight into the front bumper hole and connected with the engine. I spent my whole childhood travelling in it during the 70's.

By the looks of things, the cooling system does without a pump and works by convection, drawing cool water from the bottom of the radiator and feeding it back into the top. Hence the large coolant capacity. Power output was a modest 40 bhp at 4.200 rpm (so not much to get hot about).

Absolute nostalgia overload there. I was born in the late 1950s, so was a young passenger in several jelly mould GB cars, one or two with column change. I even got to drive one when I became of age to drive. The bench seat, the turn signals on the steering boss, the whine of the gears on the overrun, the pull starter, the pistol grip handbrake. And in this particular setting, the wee whimpering doggie and the two upturned blue hooped mugs on the lower tray. I was looking for a flask at one point. Yep, you certainly hooked me with this video, and I'm an electric car enthusiast. But I don't forget engineering of the past.

Nice! I wouldn't worry about how it looks, it's all about keeping them going rather than how well it's been restored. The classic car scene used to be very stuck up, but that attitude died a while ago thankfully.

This was brilliant. Joshua, do try the column change on a Citroen DS (I know it's not British!) if you get a chance. The manual change cars have a really slick shift, and the semi-automatics are a trickier and at the same time a huge amount of fun. Right - I'm on to your next video. Love the way you presented this.
