PNW Suburban Homesteading
Homesteading for me is about learning new skills, the wise and creative use of resources, and the DYI spirit. Homesteads can be tiny city apartments, off-grid rural farms, or any home really. Location influences how you homestead, but the general principles are the same.I'm Marcie McDonald, a native Pacific Northwesterner based in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. After many years living in the city, my family moved to a larger property surrounded by a typical suburban neighborhood in Washington County. I'm a gardener, crafter, canner, sewer, etc. with varying levels of skill and experience. PNW Suburban Homesteading is dedicated to sharing my journey as I learn, experiment, and strive to improve these skills.
Homesteading doesn't have to be all-or-nothing with a perfect garden, chicken keeping, solar panels, and full pantry. It's an attitude and way of life. If I can do it, so can you! Let's get started and learn from one another.
