Do you have any experience with the newer carbs, the ones with no main jet screw? Do they work as well as the old style carbs that have the main jet adjustment screw?

those carbs work fine and have been preset from factory.

@@dirtydogadventures6020 That's great, thanks for the feedback. I'm in Fairbanks Alaska where it gets -40 F sometimes that's why I was concerned that it might run too lean if it's that cold. Hopefully I won't be out when it's that cold though.

Have you heard of anyone over tightening the main jet screw? When I look inside my carb where the pointed tip of the adjustment screw comes in, the aluminum around the hole bulges out and has some small cracks on the edges. I tightened it as hard as I could before backing it off 1-1/4 turns, wasn't aware that breaking this part was even possible.

No that's a first I have heard, you only need to just bottom out that screw with no tension

I have not had any issues through the years with the oil injection system. only real way to ensure proper usage is monitor the oil level to amount of gas burned. you could add a tank of fuel/oil mix to the sled, unhook oil line and watch the oil leak out of the hose i guess!! The manual goes over the setting adjustment of the pump stroke

I have a 2006 Bravo that's not starting great, I want to tear into it but it's my first machine. What is the best repair manual to get; ( what is the one that can tell you lbs. of torque) that you refer to in this video?

I notice in your manual it says 75/80 WT gear oil, Why do you use ATF? Because the gear oil is too thick in the cold?
@dirtydogadventures6020
Жыл бұрын
it just needs lubrication, transmission fluid is cheap and yes it is not a heavy weight oil for the cold

These type of videos are incredibly helpful, no matter the machine. I have one bravo I'm considering restoring, and there's very few videos on KZitem, or information in general on them considering just how long they were produced. A big thank-you to you for putting information out there, no matter how basic/simple. Lots of 'simple' job videos eventually adds up to make a very comprehensive visual guide that you just couldn't get anywhere else.

Just recently got myself an 87 Bravo and these vids are a god send. It's my first snowmobile so seeing how this stuff works is amazing. Have you ever had trouble with engine mounts breaking? My top mount has broken twice and I'm not too sure why. I think the second time was a poor quality part I received so fingers crossed its sorted now but not sure if its some other problem causing it.

I have not had any issues with my mounts yet! But lots of talk about buying OEM rather than the aftermarket ones that do not last.

Hi, Thanks for the info!!! Really helped out. I have two bravo's and this past weekend I notice I have oil leaking out from something and it is spraying out the engine shroud - I'm assuming the fan is blowing it. Any thoughts? I have looked other places online with no luck. Thought it would be worth asking.

I cannot say I have had that happen! Is the oil feed line on the clutch side of carb still on? There are only 2 lines going to the engine that would have oil in them. other than that I would expect to be a crank seal of head gasket? But then the sled would not run very good.

Interesting. I learned something here today. I never knew that ATF was used in the chain case. On the stuff we used to ride back in the 1980's (Back then, we were riding on machines from the early-mid 1970's.) we usually used 40-50 weight motor oil. One of the guys tried some 90 weight gear oil once. He was back in the shop that evening, changing his gear oil again 😂. Heavy oil and snowmobile chain are not a good combination.

Gotta give props for you doing all that work at the beginning one-handed while holding the camera fairly steady with the other. NOT an easy thing to do. Some of my tripod shots aren't that steady, LOL. Good to see you getting your kiddo involved with the camera work as well. He did a good job. Spot on with the carb cleaning. I was actually impressed with how clean it got in the can of cleaner without ultrasonic. You did all of the steps just as I would do, and have done in the past when I had a machine. This is pretty much necessary pre-season maintenance on snowmobiles. I miss snowmobiling a lot these days. Strangely, I haven't owned a machine since 1989, but am currently looking for one. I don't like the newer sleds. Just too flashy in my eyes. Guess I am showing my age because I love the older "vintage" stuff. I am actually a fan of the Bravo machines. Simple and reliable...But then most Yamahas are pretty reliable anyway. Would love to get my hands on an Enticer or even a Bravo, but they are hard to find around here (Wisconsin). Anyways, I am rambling again, LOL. Really good video and some good advice here. Cheers!

Hello again, just a quick question. Have you ever taken the bearing off of the jackshaft after removing the secondary? Any tips for getting if off? I don't got a puller atm and the only way I can see to get it off is by taking off the left side bumper and sliding the entire jackshaft with the bearing out. Thanks in advance!

Hey, thanks for the video. I have a question, Have you ever removed the gas tank completely and if you did, how did you re-connect both fuel lines. The large one is self explanatory, but the small one is impossible to reach unless you have E.T. fingers? Any help is appreciated.

The primer hose is connected into the top of the carb, separate of the breathers, you will be able to tell and you can follow the hose to the primer.
