Pretty wild how this game was 1 v 2, huge implications, a big comeback, winner went on to win the NC, but somehow 11 years later the “Game of the Century” was hyped up and became the most boring game of all time with Bama and LSU.

Thanks to ESPN and the absolute greed of Universities, many great college football rivalries vanished, like this one, UT-A&M, Mizzou-KU.

I was 20 years old and in my junior year of college when this happened. A bunch of us crowded into the dorm lobby with a TV set and watched this game. I wasnt sure about OU in the games prior to this one, I thought they were good but still wasnt getting my hopes up. When this game happened and I saw OU come back from a 14 point deficit and score 31 unanswered points against the #1 team in the nation, I knew then, in that moment, that we were going to win the national championship. Josh Heupel was just not going to allow the team to lose... period.

These 2 teams entered this game, what, both undefeated I think. We may not get a #1 vs. #2 for awhile, unfortunately......just over half-way through the 2022 season, and these two teams have combined for EIGHT total losses. Oklahoma used to not get 8 losses, themselves, over even a five year period under Bud, Barry, and Bob....but I think Brent will turn things around, given enough time. PS if you want to be an Oklahoma head coach you better have your name start with a "B"!

Coach V talked about this game in his presser yesterday and got pretty emotional being upset about him wanting to get home and get some sleep instead of taking in the moment when students tore down the goalposts. We got an upgrade.

This was the game where I finally believed we were that good. Beating the #&^% out of Texas, that could have been a fluke. Beating #2 K State at their place, maybe we over-achieved. But to come back from being down 14-0 and win going away against #1 Nebraska made you a believer.

1:32:21 Wild to look at that and think that 21 years later, he would become the head coach for OU. It's also kinda ironic seeing him being the "get back" coach for Mike Stoops there. Lol

Member watching this game as a kid 8 years old, recorded the whole season with a big ol stand up camcorder, its fuzzy through a few games but really cool tape I have as a souvenir from the last time we won a title, we have one coming in our near future, Brent Venables is making big changes in Norman!!!

Nebraska's fall from football grace in the last 10 years or so is so sad. I don't think the two teams have even been scheduled to play each other in quite some time. I would like to see this rivalry be restarted again.

Stupidest move in NCAA history, Nebraska moving to Big 10. They are nothing more than mediocre now. They were always in the championship talk in the Big 12. They are the new Northwestern or Minnesota of the Big 10.

I wish that ou could get the Nebraska game like texas in the 70s an insisted non conference game which is a mandatory non conference game. I miss Nebraska. Maybe if you made this game mandatory playing ou may help instill some ol Cornhusker pride.
