Absolutely rubbish. Slade absolutely dominated the UK charts along with Bowie, Sweet, Wizard. And the number one was...... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY. Even my grandkids know that.

1971 was the year that cheesy songs ruled the roost. It was also the year that i started to get into music whether it was pop or rock it was a decent time to chill out and listen to classic tunes.

This is a great compilation. One of my favourite years. I'm in the bath singing along and I know most of the words to all of them! Thank god Cliff came in and drowned out Geldoffs wailing, though!😂

I was 8 years old at the time. Contrary to what a lot of people, who seemed to be unable see properly through their rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia, life was really shit for a lot of us in the UK at that time. Especially if you were an ethnic minority, gay or even simply because you were a woman. Overall, for most people, life is far better now. People either don’t realise or aren’t grateful for that.

Love this song! I mean you've got just admire the sheer simplicity of it, a true example of ''less is more'' and yet it still sounds fresh all these years on!
