This movie was particularly about military courtroom drama, it was about power. And if power is given to the wrong person who will abuse it, that’s when he or she goes to the limits that brings them down.

‘The End’ Noooo, really? The camera goes wide with an overhead shot of an empty court room. That already suggests the ending.

Jessup ordered a code red, and got a marine killed, willing to throw two marines to the dogs, and all they where doing was just following orders, he talks about honor , but somewhere along the way he lost sight of it.

This great movie aired on WWOR, the, then, future affiliate of the real Warner Bros. network, UPN, which stomped Tribune's crap in the ratings in all 11 years concurrent with that shitstain existence of Tribune's shit LMAO. Oh and UPN's affiliates stomped The WB's affiliates in ratings too. Even "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" wasn't on The WB 11 all that much either. It was a power grab by desperate Tribune to boost The WB, via their affiliates, but it backfired.

Alternate ending: The two get not guilty not guilty; guilty. But when Jessup flips out he has a fatal coronary. Buried with full honors, he "gets away with it". And the Marines avoid a scandal

I wanted to see the Arrest of Lt. Kendrick. He was more arrogant than Jessup. Power hungry an was trying to get his own Command someday. I respect Our Armed forces, but to Violate human Morality is against my belief. Jessup, deep down was a Coward. He wanted Kendrick an the 2 marines on trial to suffer the consequences of an Order he delivered. They just followed orders. It happens more than we know.

If I was Kaffee.... I would have argued that this is the first time someone died during a code red...... Code red was not meant to kill anyone in the first place... Just a sort of punishment for screwing up, like your basketball coach making you run around the court several times when you're late for practice..... The other soldier who was asked if he knew where the mess hall was admitted it works and he never dropped his rifle again.... So they should not have been dishonorably discharged......

According to Rob Reiner, the anachronistic use of "The End" in the movie is because he felt like it was appropriate being that the movie was an old-fashioned morality play.

A very thought provoking movie. It’s satirical of how a similar situation would likely drift in the favor of the colonel in real life and justice wouldn’t be served. Cruise had a Hail Mary plan that worked in the movie, but would likely not in reality. This movie really makes you ponder about the flaws of the hierarchy.
